Video: Denver Tight End Shannon Sharpe's Hall of Fame speech that stole the show

Via BreitbartTV:

Harry Reid, Democrats in response to S&P downgrade: Hey - let's raise taxes!

Let me just cut to the chase: historically each $1 in higher taxes results in $1.17 of new spending. And all the tax increases since WWII haven't brought down the debt one red cent. Not one. Increasing taxes to cut the deficit will do just the opposite because Democrats will simply spend it and then some. It. Is. A. Historical. Fact. The problem isn't revenues. It's spending. But the tone deaf don't get that. Speaking of, from The Hill: Reid: S&P downgrade backs Dems' call for more revenue
The action by S&P reaffirms the need for a balanced approach to deficit reduction that combines spending cuts with revenue-raising measures like closing taxpayer-funded giveaways to billionaires, oil companies and corporate jet owners. This makes the work of the joint committee all the more important, and shows why leaders should appoint members who will approach the committee’s work with an open mind - instead of hardliners who have already ruled out the balanced approach that the markets and rating agencies like S&P are demanding.
As if the Democrats will appoint anyone other than hardliner liberals to the commission. Their only idea is to raise taxes. Always has been, always will be. Class warfare is all they know.

Of course! Private emails detail Obama admin involvement in cutting non-union worker pensions post-GM bailout

In 2009, there was this dishonest headline over at The Detroit News: White House has 'no desire' to run GM. Yeah right. There was also untruth in the actual article: 'The Obama administration has "no desire to run an auto company on a day-to-day basis," despite a GM restructuring plan that would give the Treasury Department a majority stake in the company.' I called bs on that claim: "How is holding more than half the company stock not indicative of control? In addition, if in fact the government had no desire to run the auto company, what's with the "day-to-day basis" suffix? Doesn't that by itself change the meaning of the statement? It indicates to me that the government just wants to make the big global decisions (make more hybrids, smaller cars, yada, yada) and leave the day-to-day operations to the company. In essence, they would be the brain handing out directions to the peons that would then have to simply carry out orders. ."More evidence of that came to light this August: Top auto supplier CEO: Government too focused on electric vehicles, "ignoring" other technologies. And then the bombshell from Obama's own car czar: Obama's former car czar: Obama "seemed to have it in for the automakers from the beginning". Here's the crux of what I asserted in 2009 - that Obama indeed thought of GM as his own personal toy company making cars at his bidding (it is, after all, all about him):
...the car czar notes that the president seemed to have it in for the automakers from the beginning.

At his first substantive sit-down with his advisers a week after the election, when the U.S. auto industry's problems were broached, Obama quipped:

"Why can't they make a Corolla?"

Later, when Obama was informed of the plan to give ousted GM Chief Rick Wagoner $7.1 million, his jaw muscles tightened and Rattner writes: "Suddenly I felt that I was indeed in the presence of a community organizer..."
Anyone need more evidence that we are being ruled by a regime under the control of our community organizer-in-chief?But wait - it gets even worse now. From The Daily Caller: Private emails detail Obama admin involvement in cutting non-union worker pensions post-GM bailout
New emails obtained by The Daily Caller contradict claims by the Obama administration that the Treasury Department would avoid “intervening in the day-to-day management” of General Motors post-auto bailout.
In other words, Obama lied. Again. It's become his MO.
These messages reveal that Treasury officials were involved in decision-making that led to more than 20,000 non-union workers losing their pensions.

Republican Reps. Dan Burton and Mike Turner say that during the GM bailout, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner decided to cut pensions for salaried non-union employees at Delphi, a GM spinoff, to expedite GM’s emergence from bankruptcy.
Picking winners and losers - something liberals salivate over having the power to do.
The key point of the Wednesday hearing was to show that the Obama administration advised GM on how to eliminate the Delphi workers’ pensions. The evidence suggests Geithner’s team played a significant role in that process, despite claims to the contrary.

In 2009 congressional testimony, senior Obama administration official Ron Bloom said the president told the Treasury Department to stay out of the management of these companies and downplayed any administration intervention.

...But the emails TheDC obtained show high-ranking Treasury Department officials, including Matthew Feldman of Treasury’s Auto Task Force, corresponding with senior GM officials on how to make certain decisions regarding who was going to win and who was going to lose.
It's like a game of Sims to the liberal ruling class. They can't help but to get involved and take control. More from Michelle MalkinPajamas Media, Nice Deb, Hot Air and Weasel Zippers

Great News: Average Length Of Unemployment Surges To New All Time Record 40.4 Weeks

An all-time record since records began being kept... ...during the Great Depression! Via memeorandumAverage Length Of Unemployment Surges To New All Time Record 40.4 Weeks
We already learned that the one biggest red flag in unemployment data had been raised when we found that the labor force participation rate was the lowest since 1984. Now we find that the other critical data point: average length of unemployment, just hit a new all time high of 40.4 weeks in July, up from the previous record of 39.9 in June. Someone should tell the average American who is rapidly approaching one year in average unemployment that the stock market soared on good payroll news. They will be delighted.

It just keeps getting worse and worse. Note the rapid acceleration after Obama took office. More from Don Surber and Doug Ross

It's come to this: China Tells US It Must ‘Cure Its Addiction to Debt’

China lecturing us on finances? Good grief how far we've fallen since a community organizer sits in the Oval Office. Via memeorandumChina Tells U.S. It Must ‘Cure Its Addiction to Debt’
China, the largest foreign holder of United States debt, said Saturday that Washington needed to “cure its addiction to debts” and “live within its means,” just hours after the rating agency Standard & Poor’s downgraded America’s long-term debt.

The harshly worded commentary, released by China’s official Xinhua news agency, was Beijing’s latest effort to express its displeasure with Washington.
Ironically, China and I now have that one thing in common. The solution of course is to stop spending. Don't tell that to the liberal ruling class though. More from Outside the Beltway, Balkinization and Hugh Hewitt's Town. Incidentally, we here in Michigan have much experience with credit downgrades. Via Henry Payne over at The Michigan View: Granholm deja voodoo: Obama gets downgraded
Like Jennifer Granholm before him, Barack Obama got downgraded Friday.

Michigan is doomed to relive the Granholm nightmare through the Obama administration. And the only way out of this hole is the same solution Michigan found: Elect a fiscally conservative, Republican executive.

"For the third time this year, Wall Street has downgraded Michigan's credit rating," reported Michigan's Department of Treasury in 2007 after Standard & Poor knocked the state's rating to AA-. This after Granholm - Obama-like - took the state to the precipice of a reckless budget shutdown.

"In making today's announcement, S&P said ongoing revenue weakness, use of onetime solutions, and 'the nature of the cuts that may be required at the end of 2007 because of failed negotiations on previous gap closing measures all suggest that the state could struggle with fiscal imbalances even beyond 2008. . . 2007 actions that only defer needed budget adjustments rather than address them will make true fiscal balance in 2008 more difficult. Further downgrades are possible without economic stabilization and real action to restore fiscal balance,'" added Treasury.

Sound familiar?

Like Obama, Granholm refused to address the state's fundamental fiscal problems while spending recklessly under cover of divisive class warfare rhetoric.
As our former Senate Majority leader Mike Bishop was quoted as saying: "Jennifer Granholm was Barack Obama before  Barack Obama was Barack Obama." Since Snyder got elected, Michigan's credit rating has been upgraded. We need a change at the top with Obama as well.

Figures: Rachel Maddow Apologizes to Rush Limbaugh by Calling Him a Racist

Maddow got more egg on her face when she used a Limbaugh clip from more than a year ago to try and paint Limbaugh as thinking something today, and had to apologize for the gross editing ethics. Her non-apology apology includes calling Rush a racist rather than a birther:
The Maddow segment on this very issue: Rachel Maddow Apologizes to Rush by Calling Him a Racist
Rachel Maddow mistakenly told her audience that Rush Limbaugh had made a birth certificate joke about the president earlier this week. In fact, the joke Limbaugh made was from last year, before President Obama had released his long form birth certificate. In admitting the error and apologizing to Limbaugh, Maddow decided to assure her audience that even though she was wrong about this one fact, Limbaugh is still a racist.
UPDATE: More on that dude: NBC News’ Maddow Misleads on ‘Meet the Press’
Watch Breitbart.tv expose how NBC News' Rachel Maddow cherry-picks facts to make the S & P downgrade appear to be a partisan slap at Republicans. She also theatrically reads from a document on the air making it appear as though she is reading directly from S & P's statement.

This is a device Maddow uses often on her show. She takes a dramatic pause and reads from a paper on her desk which subliminally suggests to the viewer that what she is saying has some extra level of validity.

Weekly GOP Address: Balanced Budget. Obama Weekly Address: TAX HIKES!

Obama and/or the Democratic Party is yet to explain how pulling money out of the private sector via taxation improves jobs prospects in said private sector. Sans the explanation, Obama is truly stuck on stupid:

Video: Charter Bank Helps To Keep Obese Detroit Childrem From Going Hungry Or Something

I'm sur ethis will play well with most, especially the community organizer crowd that grows by th eday in Detroit just like kids waistlines:
Thing is, though, childhood obesity has increased in Detroit in recent years. Coincidentally, so has government aid. Via Jack McHugh: Medicaid breaks the bank
Spending by the Michigan Department of Community Health increased 65 percent from 2000 to 2010. During that period, overall state spending grew by "only" 37 percent, while Michigan's population actually declined by 0.55 percent.

Most of the DCH spending increase was in Medicaid, or health care welfare for the poor, funded by a combination of federal and state money. A House Fiscal Agency PowerPoint shows that Medicaid spending has risen more than 125 percent since 2000.

A large part of the increase is from a Medicaid expansion called the "State Children's Health Insurance Program" or SCHIP, begun in 1997, which extends coverage to the children of parents who have lower incomes but are still substantially above the official poverty level. The 2009 federal "stimulus" program also increased Medicaid spending levels.

And Detroit kids are fatter as a result. Almost like government's solutions are worse than the original problems. More at Capitol Confidential at this link.

Video: ‘Tea Party Terrorists’ Media Mash

There's so much  fodder to have here, that you should consider this video the cliff notes version of a much larger occurrence:

HuffPo: TX Gov Rick Perry's College Transcript has A Lot Of Cs and Ds. HOW ABOUT OBAMA'S

As it were, no one has ever seen Obama's transcripts, if they even exist. But the HuffPo feels its inner Republican derangement syndrome in poo-pooing Rick Perry's. Via memeorandum: Rick Perry's College Transcript: A Lot Of Cs and Ds
One reason that might explain his hostility toward the system: He didn't do very well in it. A source in Texas passed The Huffington Post Perry's transcripts from his years at Texas A&M University. The future politician did not distinguish himself much in the classroom. While he later became a student leader, he had to get out of academic probation to do so. He rarely earned anything above a C in his courses -- earning a C in U.S. History, a D in Shakespeare, and a D in the principles of economics. Perry got a C in gym.

Perry also did poorly on classes within his animal science major. In fall semester 1970, he received a D in veterinary anatomy, a F in a second course on organic chemistry and a C in animal breeding. He did get an A in world military systems and “Improv. of Learning” -- his only two As while at A&M.
Yo HuffPo - get Obama's transcripts (especially the one from Occidental College where Obama received foreign aid as a non-citizen), if you can. Psychoanalyze them. Then we'll talk about Perry's. More from  Hot Air and Legal Insurrection

Video: Liberals blame non-existant peak energy, not Obama policies, on killing economy

The peak energy drumbeaters are out once again, perhaps appropriately recycled from the 1960's: Who killed economic growth?
It's NOT peak energy though. Those high gas prices at the pump? OBAMA WANTS THOSE HIGH GAS PRICES AND CAUSED THEM! Once elected, Obama went right to war with oil, so vehemently that a federal judge found Obama in contempt for usurping the US Constitution: Shocker: Judge holds Obama regime in contempt over illegal drilling ban. That coupled with Obama's incompetence at any semblance of foreign policy is setting up a nightmare scenario for oil prices that will hurt our economy. Gas is already above $4 a gallon here in Michigan and most expect that the $5 threshold will be breached across the nation this year (From The Detroit Free Press: Is $5-a-gallon coming soon?). High gas prices are exactly what Democrats and Obama want. O said so himself:  Flashback 2008: Obama says he wants gas prices to go up
Coal?  Flashback Video 2008: Obama Promises To Bankrupt Coal-Fuled Power Plants. There should be no surprise at Obama bypassing Congress altogether to bankrupt the coal industry by executive fiat, especially considering that he promised to do so 3 years ago:

Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin, the former governor of coal-producing West Virginia, is blasting the Obama administration for using the Environmental Protection Agency to regulate coal-fueled power plants out of business. Here's what Barack Obama said about coal-fueled plant in 2008.
High energy prices have nothing to do with peak energy or peak oil, but rather peak stupidity. That stupidity was made worse as not only was Obama in the Oval Office, but Democrats total domination of Congress. Predictable results ensued...

Govt Efficiency (Cont'd): US Postal Service Loses $3.1 BILLION In Q2 2011

This after losing $2 Billion in Q1. What is the US Postal Service exactly? Per a prior post: US Postal Service: a public employee pension and healthcare management organization that delivers mail on the side with a large $33.5 billion deficit. The deficit for just this fiscal year is $8.5 billion (Good News: Post Office $8.5 Billion in deficit AFTER massive layoffs). And all this just so they can deliver daily spam to my house via snail mail. I send no letters (I take care of all that electronically). I get no bills (I take care of all that electronically). All I get - virtually 100% - is junk that I have to either shred or throw directly into the garbage bin. If the Post Office disappeared tomorrow, I wouldn't even notice and it would be a net positive for me as the only junk I would have to deal with is via email. And for delivering spam, the unionized USPS employees are getting a juicy 3 1/2% raise. All the while absolutely hemorrhaging taxpayer money: ABC News Covers U.S. Postal Service Financial Mess
ABC News covers the United States Postal Service (USPS) financial mess. USPS lost $8.5 billion in 2010, and could lose up to $238 billion in the next 10 years.

Obama 2009: My Presidency Will Be 'A One-Term Proposition' If Economy Doesn't Turn In 3 Years. 2011: Obama A "Prisoner Of This Economy"

2009: FLASHBACK: Obama: My Presidency Will Be 'A One-Term Proposition' If Economy Doesn't Turn In 3 Years
More than 2 1/2 years later: Obama A "Prisoner Of This Economy"
"The corporate tax rate is something that the administration believed they could support, that it would get those businesses to start hiring. Once they start hiring, the atmosphere changes, politics changes and you can start to readjust. Until that happens, he is locked. He's a prisoner of this economy. He' a prisoner of a Congress that has no appetite whatsoever for more spending."
To be fair, Obama has a few months left before those 3 years are up. Good luck!

Video: Obama continues to make jokes during talks, audience continues to fail to notice

Watch particularly to the audience reaction to Obama's jokes in this video over at BrietbartTV: Obama Calls for ‘Reverse Boot Camp’ Jobs Program for Vets
Obama has lost 3 million jobs since becoming President. Unemployment is at 9.1% and it's only that low because people that give up looking for work no longer get counted as unemployed. Plus we have a massive deficit to boot. And we just got downgraded by the SP which will make our debt more expensive to service. Dude - this is no joking matter. Shut up with the jokes and reverse your disastrous Carter policies!

Video of Charles Krauthammer: Obama Gets "Physical Pain" When Companies Don't Pay Taxes

Darned right:
"I disagree. If you have $1 trillion overseas staying overseas because if you bring it over here it's double taxation. What you do is you give a holiday, a moratorium on that. And let's see if it works or not. It's certainly not going to hurt. I think the reason that Obama doesn't want to do it is when he sees $1 trillion over there as untaxed he gets physical pain as a result. Now, second suggestion, how about a one-year moratorium on regulations? Obama imagines that acting on the economy is creating a program, spending the money, infrastructure and all of this stuff. How about undoing the foot he's had on the neck of this economy? The NLRB, the EPA, shutting down our drilling shell and all these other resources and try to cull, cleanse. A year of moratorium, roll back some of that and you'll see at least an energy, a real spurt in the economic growth." - Charles Krauthammer
As the rest of us n the real world know quite well, companies don't pay taxes, their customers do. And the US has the highest corporate tax rate of any developed nation. Not good enough for Obama though.  More Krathammer: Talking About Deficit Helps Obama Hide Record On Jobs
An abysmal record it is at that.

Stimulus! After 2 1/2 years, $4 trillion overspent, unemployment at 9.1% and 14 million looking for work. Obama Blames Arab Spring And Tsunami In Japan For Slower Growth

It's never his fault, and the buck never, ever stops with him:
It's not the arab spring, or the tsunami. Nut it is a natural disaster: Hurricane Obama. With predictable results: the unemployment rate remains above 9% more than 2 1/2 years after Obama promised it would not go above 8% is he got to spend lots and lots of money, which he did. From the AP:
Hiring picked up slightly in July and the unemployment rate dipped to 9.1 percent, an optimistic sign after the worst day on Wall Street in nearly three years.
Remember when the AP was blasting Bush when unemployment was at 4.7%?  They sure have changed their tune, no?
Employers added 117,000 jobs last month, the Labor Department said Friday. That's better than the past two months, which were also revised higher.
117,000 jobs by the way, isn't even enough to keep the status quo as more than that are needed to accommodate population increases where teenagers age into the workforce. If the AP were honest, they would have pointed that out. They didn't and aren't. CNBC is honest about this however (this quote from last month):

The economy needs to create between 125,000 and 150,000 new jobs a month just to absorb new labor force entrants. ...
Says the AP:
Still, the economy needs twice as many net jobs per month to rapidly reduce unemployment. The rate has topped 9 percent in every month except two since the recession officially ended in June 2009.

The unemployment rate fell partly because some unemployed workers stopped looking for work. That means they are no longer counted as unemployed.
Enron has nothing on Uncle Sam. The real unemployment rate by the way is 16%, not 9%. The way the government calculates the unemployment rate makes Enron look honest by comparison. Obama promised that 3.5 million NEW private-sector jobs would be created by the $1.2 trillion stimulus bill ($800 billion + interest over 10 years since the US is bankrupt) by 2010. Instead, more than 3 million jobs have been lost. Here is what has been happening with Biden's 3-letter word since Obama took over:

Total US jobs lost under Obama: 2,813,000 jobs
Essentially 3 million fewer jobs to lose, and that's neglecting the corrections that were made to the jobs numbers from 2009 and more recently that showed even bigger losses. Recall that the stimulus package was supposed to stop the unemployment rate at 8%! A crisis could become a calamity? Remember that? Obama promised the unemployment rate would not exceed 8% if Congress gave him a $1.2 trillion (including interest) slush fund in the form of the stimulus boondoggle:

Obama Makes History: S&P downgrades U.S. credit rating for first time ever

Remember that drive to raise the debt ceiling so that we don't supposedly default and get downgraded? Well, we did get downgraded and I say it's because we raised the debt ceiling. After all, you can't solve a debt problem by carrying even more debt around. Via The Washington Post:
Standard & Poor’s announced Friday night that it has downgraded the United States credit rating for the first time, dealing a huge symbolic blow to the world’s economic superpower in what was a sharply worded critique of the American political system.

Lowering the nation’s rating one-notch below AAA, the credit rating company said “political brinkmanship” in the debate over the debt had made the U.S. government’s ability to manage its finances “less stable, less effective and less predictable.” It said the bi-partisan agreement reached this week to find $2.1 trillion in budget savings “fell short” of what was necessary to tame the nation’s debt over time and predicted that leaders would have no luck achieving more savings later on.
In other words, the overspending is Washington is the problem, and Obama won't do anything about it. Quite the opposite in fact. Here's a flashback though via Doug Ross: He's Historic, Alright: Standard & Poor's Downgrades US Debt to AA+

Great News: Dept of Agriculture, Centers for Disease Control make ARMED RAID hits Rawesome Foods, Bust Raw Milk & Cheese Sellers For Conspiracy To Sell Raw Milk (I Kid You Not!)

The thing that struck me perhaps even worse than feds arresting people for selling healthy food is this: WHAT THE HECK IS THE DOA AND CDC DOING BEING ARMED? For all the drive liberals have in trying their darnedest to make sure we are unarmed, they are sure expending much effort in armed bureaucrats from the CDC and Department of Agriculture. From Natural News: Breaking news: Multi-agency armed raid hits Rawesome Foods, Healthy Family Farms for selling raw milk and cheese. So let me get this straight - the feds refuse to secure our borders letting terrorists walk right into our country, but are arresting seller of healthy milk? Yup:
A multi-agency SWAT-style armed raid was conducted this morning by helmet-wearing, gun-carrying enforcement agents from the LA County Sheriff's Office, the FDA, the Dept. of Agriculture and the CDC (Centers for Disease Control).

Law enforcement demanded that all customers (members) of the store vacate the premises, then they demanded to know how much cash James had at the store. When James explained the amount of cash he had at the store -- which is used to purchase product for selling there -- agents demanded to know why he had such an amount of cash and where it came from.

James was handcuffed, was never read his rights and was stuffed into an unmarked car. While agents said they would leave behind a warrant, no one has yet had any opportunity to even see if such a warrant exists or if it is a complete warrant.

Law enforcement then proceeded to destroy the inventory of the story by pouring the milk down the drain and / or confiscating raw cheese and fresh produce for destruction. Video now posted at NaturalNews.TV: http://www.naturalnews.tv/v.asp?v=A...

James is now being held at the Pacific division police department at Centinela and Culver in Los Angeles. He is being held at $123,000 bail with no possibility of using bail bonds. Law enforcement has demanded that if he comes up with the money to cover bail, he must disclose to them all the sources of that money. (This is an illegal demand!)
Video of the SWAT raid ('put the cucumber down and step away!'):
The caption:
A little more than a year ago, Rawesome Foods, a health food co-op based in Venice, California was the target of an armed raid by several agencies, and the resulting video went viral.

On August 3, 2011, Rawesome experienced another multi-agency raid, but this one resulted in the arrest of the establishment's owner James Stewart.

Stewart, and Sharon Palmer, the farmer who supplies him with raw goat milk, are being held on bails in excess of $100,000 and are each charged with four felonies and several more misdemeanors. Some examples of the charges are "processing unpasteurized milk," "improper labeling of food," and "improper egg temperatures."
Good grief.

Overregulation: The $1.75 Trillion Cost of US Regulation Is Twice the Amount of Individual Taxes Collected

No wonder the market dove 513 points yesterday: The $1.75 Trillion Cost of US Regulation Is Twice the Amount of Individual Taxes Collected. Legislating through bureaucracy is costing the country plenty:
From The Heritage Foundation on YouTube:
As the economy continues to struggle, a new report highlights ways the government may be making things worse by imposing bigger burdens on business. Our new video breaks down the facts and highlights the impact of this creeping government red tape. While these costs are often invisible, they are nevertheless very real for taxpayers.
The result, via Instapundit:
CHANGE: IRS: U.S. Income Plummeted 15.2% in 2009. I knew it was bad, but I had no idea it was that bad.
And from Vox Popoli: These charts are scarier
Derek Thompson of the Atlantic considered these four charts from Calculated Risk to the be scariest economic charts he's seen all year. I can only conclude that he has not seen the following chart, which shows the "credit gap" between where the U.S. economy would be if credit growth had simply proceeded at its 50-year post-WWII average and where it actually stands after Q1-2011.

Change you can believe in:
Via memeorandumSatirical mints poking fun at Obama pulled from UT bookstore
Breath mints are usually refreshing, but a Knoxville legislator believes a University of Tennessee bookstore's selling of novelty candies mocking President Barack Obama stinks.

UT officials pulled the mints poking fun at Obama from store shelves after state Rep. Joe Armstrong, a Democrat, visited the bookstore and told the director he found the satirical mints offensive.

"When you operate on state and federal dollars, you ought to be sensitive to those type of politically specific products," Armstrong said. "If it was a private entity or corporation or store, (that's different), but this is a state university. We certainly don't want in any way to put the university in a bad light by having those political (products), particularly aimed at defaming the president."
Of course, there's no problem with using taxpayer money through UT to indoctrinate students into leftism. More from Right Wing News and The Daily Caller

Great News: Obama already spends most of debt limit increase IN ONE DAY

And you wonder why the stock market plummeted 513 points yesterday. Spending is at such an absurd level both here and across the pond that the stock markets know darned well it's unsustainable. Via memeorandumU.S. eats up most of debt limit in one day. The subline: "$239 billion spike uses up 60% of funding OK’d on Tuesday." Good grief. One day?
U.S. debt shot up $239 billion on Tuesday — the largest one-day bump in history — as the government flexed the new borrowing room it earned in this week’s debt-limit increase deal.
You know, there were YEARS during the Bush administration where the deficit was around that much, and I thought that was absurd. Obama overspends in one day what Bush overspends in one year!
The debt subject to the statutory limit shot way past the old cap of $14.294 trillion to hit $14.532 trillion on Tuesday, according to the latest the Treasury Department figures, which are released on the next business day.

That increase puts the government already remarkably close to the new debt limit of $14.694, which means one day’s new borrowing ate up 60 percent of the $400 billion in space Congress granted the president this week.
At this rate Obama will be begging for another increase next week. More from Michelle Malkin, Maggie's Notebook, JammieWearingFool and Scared Monkeys

Of course! Media blame pro-life protesters for Molotov cocktail thrown at Detroit clinic, ignored cocktail thrown at pro-lifers back in March

Fox 2 News in Detroit does 2 things with the following report: 1) blame pro-life protesters for the Molotov Cocktail without any evidence whatsoever, and 2) give the abortion clinic some good PR by focusing on all the supposedly essential services for women the clinic gives. Like all abortion mills, killing babies is their bread and butter, and these clinics use the other services like Hamas uses their helping of the poor in Gaza - as a human shield for murder. From Fox2 Detroit: Detroit Women's Clinic Attacked with Molotov Cocktail

So even the FBI is involved here. However, a flashback just a few months to March where I posted this: Nice: Firebomb Thrown at Elderly Woman at Pro-Life Prayer Event, Police Yawn
A homemade incendiary device was thrown at one of the participants of the 40 Days for Life pro-life prayer vigil at an abortion business in Kalispell, Montana on Thursday night.

The woman walked on the public sidewalk near the abortion business when an unidentified person threw the device — akin to a “Molotov cocktail” — in her direction. The woman did not see either the firebomb nor the assailant it exploded on the sidewalk behind her, making a loud popping noise like a big firecracker as it burst into flame. Fortunately, the woman was not hurt in the incident.

After she regained her composure, the victim called Karen Trierweiler, coordinator of the 40 Days prayer vigils in Kalispell at the All Family Health Care abortion center, over to her.

After a lengthy delay, a Kalispell police officer arrived. However, according to officials with the Thomas More Society, a pro-life legal group that is helping the participants, instead of inspecting the bomb debris or calling evidence technicians to the scene, the officer remarked that police could never get prints or other evidence from the bomb’s remains and said he would call the city’s garbage service to dispose of all the debris.

The officer then said that the 40 Days prayer vigil participants should expect this kind of reaction if they’re protesting at the abortion business. Questioning Officer Hoover’s assessment of the attack, Trierweiler called the Kalispell desk sergeant to complain, where she was unable to get further assistance.

Tom Brejcha, president and chief counsel of the Thomas More Society says his group has filed a formal complaint with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Field Office in Helena, Montana. The organization is for an immediate, intensive investigation of what it calls a “vicious” attack.

“We are appalled by this terrible act of violence, while we’re immensely grateful that God’s grace spared this valiant pro-lifer any serious injury,” he told LifeNews.com this afternoon. “But the reaction of Kalispell police officers after Ms. Trierweiler called them to the scene was equally appalling, indeed outrageous.”
So ignore cocktails thrown at pro-lifers, but call in the FBI when the tables are turned. Albeit that's not quite right as there were no witnesses in the Detroit case.

Heh: 69% Say Scientists Have Falsified Global Warming Research. Al Gore Calls Fr Violent Revolt

My question is, what the heck are the other 31% thinking at this point? Via memeorandum69% Say It's Likely Scientists Have Falsified Global Warming Research
The debate over global warming has intensified in recent weeks after a new NASA study was interpreted by skeptics to reveal that global warming is not man-made. While a majority of Americans nationwide continue to acknowledge significant disagreement about global warming in the scientific community, most go even further to say some scientists falsify data to support their own beliefs.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of American Adults shows that 69% say it’s at least somewhat likely that some scientists have falsified research data in order to support their own theories and beliefs, including 40% who say this is Very Likely. Twenty-two percent (22%) don’t think it’s likely some scientists have falsified global warming data, including just six percent (6%) say it’s Not At All Likely. Another 10% are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here .)
So only 6% say it's not at all likely. That group would be known as 'the ruling class' and they infest DC like cockroaches. Here's one of those 6%: Kim Knowlton, senior scientist with the Health and Environment Program at the National Resources Defense Council

Flashback 2011: Obama Says Stock Market Is Roaring, Economy Is Growing Again

"We are poised for progress. Two years after the worst recession most of us have ever known, the stock market has come roaring back. Corporate profits are up. The economy is growing again."
Yesterday, the stock market plummeted a whopping 513 points the day after Obama signed the debt ceiling increase to prevent the market from plummeting.

Obama Press Sec Jay Carney: "The White House Doesn't Create Jobs"

Re-he-he-he-heeeelayyy. That's sure not what they said after Obama was emaculated into office in 2009. I'm pretty sure in fact that he promised that spending $1.2 trillion on the stimulus boondoggle (including interest since it was all borrowed) would create 3.5 million NEW jobs. Instead, 3 million jobs have been lost, the unemployment rate skyrocketed, is still above 9%, and we have a massive debt to boot. So Carney is right about this White House:
Well, the White House doesn't create jobs. The government together -- White House, Congress -- creates policies that allow for greater job creation. And that can be through tax cuts, for example, for working Americans; everyone who works pays a payroll tax. And the tax cut that this President pushed for, for one year, for this calendar year, he's pushing for to be extended next year.
Hang into that quote the next time Dems want to raise taxes, which will likely be tomorrow. Obama's efforts have culminated so far in this: White House on worst market drop since 2008: ‘Markets go up and down’

Obama Press Sec Jay Carney On Dow Jones Plummeting: "Markets Go Up And Down". But By 513 Points?

By now, you all know how bad the market tanked the day after the debt ceiling was raised to keep the market from tanking:
Good grief - always blaming someone else for Obama's doing:
"There is no question that we have -- this economy has faced headwinds this year, a variety of them including the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, the increase in oil prices, energy prices that resulted from the unrest in the Arab world and the situation in Europe, also. So, our focus has to be on the things that we control which is to take the necessary measures"- Jay Carney

Of Course: Taxpayers to Cover Obama Fundraiser Tour of Midwest Battleground States

It is illegal to use taxpayer dollars to run your campaign or for political purposes in general. Not to this regime though. Obama is getting around the law by scheduling official events around his fundraisers thereby forcing taxpayers to foot the bill for his re-election campaign. From CNS News via memeorandumTaxpayers Will Pay for Obama Bus Tour of Battleground States, Says White House
President Barack Obama’s upcoming bus tour through the Midwest states typically viewed as swing states during presidential election years will be paid for by the taxpayers, the White House says.

Obama will start the tour on Aug. 15 and will talk about strengthening jobs and the economy, the White House announced on Tuesday.

“He is very happily getting out into the country again after a very sustained period here in Washington and he looks forward to talking to folks about growing the economy, creating jobs," said White House Press Secretary Jay Carney. "We will have more details, as I said, about the specifics of the trip."

Carney indicated he did not know now precisely where the president would go or what he might be announcing.

CNSNews.com asked Carney, “Is that a campaign event or a presidential event?

Carney answered, “Negative. That is an official event.”
Of course it is, copied onto Obama's campaign route. Note how defensive Carney is in this video:
CNS also notes:
The generally accepted policies in place since the Reagan administration for incumbent presidents running for re-election are based on legal opinions from the Department of Justice and Federal Elections Commission (FEC), which say that taxpayers should cover the cost of official presidential travel while travel relating to the campaign will be reimbursed to the government through campaign funds.

Arianna Huffington: Nobody Believes Obama’s Top Priority Is Jobs; It’s Getting Re-Elected

Of course not. Since coming into office, Obama promised a lot of spending would create 3.5 million NEW jobs by 2010. It's now getting late in 2011 and 3 million jobs have been LOST instead, and unemployment is at 9.2% having been around that level for more than 2 years now. Obama had time to spend lots of money that we didn't have and ram through ObamaCare and the Frank-Dodd monstrosity both of which will cost us even more (both money and jobs). So the jig is up, and even liberals are admitting it - Obama is an ideologue and at this point only cares about himself and not about jobs: Huffington: Nobody Believes Obama’s Top Priority Is Jobs; It’s Getting Re-Elected

"It reminds us of addiction because addicts are seeking something that they can't have," Peele said. "They want a state of happiness or nirvana that can't be achieved except through an artificial substance and reminds us of the Norway situation, when people are thwarted at obtaining something they can't, have they often strike out and Norway is one kind of example to one kind of reaction to that kind of a frustration."

Bashir later asked: "So you're saying that they are delusional about the past and adamant about the future?"

Obama owns it:
The crappy Obama economy coupled with massive overspending has lead to this bombshell (via memeorandum): US borrowing tops 100% of GDP: Treasury
US debt shot up $238 billion to reach 100 percent of gross domestic project after the government's debt ceiling was lifted, Treasury figures showed Wednesday.

Treasury borrowing jumped Tuesday, the data showed, immediately after President Barack Obama signed into law an increase in the debt ceiling as the country's spending commitments reached a breaking point and it threatened to default on its debt.

The new borrowing took total public debt to $14.58 trillion, over end-2010 GDP of $14.53 trillion, and putting it in a league with highly indebted countries like Italy and Belgium.

...The last time US debt topped the size of its annual economy was in 1947 just after World War II. By 1981 it had fallen to 32.5 percent.

Ratings agencies have warned the country to reduce its debt-to-GDP ratio quickly or facing losing its coveted AAA debt rating.
