Obama gave Colts the kiss of death, picked them to win. Colts lose Super Bowl XLIV to Saints 31-17

He also thought the Olympics were a shoo-in for Chicago because of his involvement (epic fail), that Corzyn would win in New Jersey, Deeds in Virginia, Coakley in Massachusetts, and that he would by himself succeed in Copenhagen. That's 0-5 there tough guy! From NFL.com: President Obama predicts Colts victory in Super Bowl XLIV
President Barack Obama said Sunday that the Indianapolis Colts "have to be favored" in the Super Bowl, even though he has a "soft spot" for the New Orleans Saints.

Obama's Super Bowl prediction was based on his opinion that the Colts have "perhaps the best quarterback in history."

"Peyton Manning is unbelievable," the president told CBS' Katie Couric during a live pregame interview.

Still, Obama said he has a soft spot for New Orleans, "mainly because of what the city has gone through over these last several years" since Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005.

Obama said he might be biased against the Colts since they beat his hometown Chicago Bears in Super Bowl XLI.
The Colts lost to the New Orleans Saints by a score of 31-17. Thanks a lot Barry! So how nervous is Harry Reid right now that Obama is promised to stump for him in Nevada???

Tim Tebow Super Bowl Ad Designed To Make Feminists Look Stupid, Epic Success!

Pro-abortion feminists have been falling all over themselves to denounce and try to get this ad pulled off the air, never to see the light of day:
The ad was designed to show the true colors of the feminists. They are in no way pro-choice, which implies impartiality between abortion or life. They are, in fact, pro-aborts. What a brilliant strategy by Focus on the Family! Said feminists are now taking a different tac on the commercial - domestic violence against moms! I kid you not! Check this tweet out from one such feminist via HotAir:

More on Tim Tebow Super Bowl Commerical Derangement Syndrome (SBCDS)

One of the lies on the other side is they are simply pro-choice. They are not. They are instead pro-abortion. Pro-choice strongly implies a neutral stance between life and abortion. Yet these people do everything they possibly can do to, ironically, keep the lie alive that what is in the womb is not a baby. They resist at all cost women seeing ultrasounds of their unborn babies because they know full well that 95% of those that see it will choose life instead of death. And their heads are now spinning because Tim Tebow and his mom will tell their story during the Super Bowl - a story that includes Pam Tebow's doctor recommending aborting Tim, who would go on to become arguably the best college football player ever. She, of course, did not. And that decision, and the outcome, has the pro-aborts gnashing their teeth and wringing their wrists. They have been in a tizzy trying to get CBS to scuttle the commercial altogether. What are they afraid of? Easy - the truth. Here's a clip of one such pro-abort:
And another of Gloria Allred who is, ironically, all red about the commercial:
And another from The Other McCain: Feminists OK With Women in Panties Selling Beer. Pro-Life Ads? Not So Much
In fact, plenty of groups are opposed to the commercial: Groups upset over Tim Tebow Super Bowl ad with anti-abortion theme. It's not, of course, an ad against abortion, but one with a pro-life message. But such is the meme of the liberal MSM. So profound has been the resistance and utter derangement of some of these groups that even some columnists in liberal publications have come out against it, such as Sally Jenkins over at the Washington Post (via memeorandum): Tebow's Super Bowl ad isn't intolerant; its critics are
I'll spit this out quick, before the armies of feminism try to gag me and strap electrodes to my forehead: Tim Tebow is one of the better things to happen to young women in some time. I realize this stance won't endear me to the "Dwindling Organizations of Ladies in Lockstep," otherwise known as DOLL, but I'll try to pick up the shards of my shattered feminist credentials and go on.

As statements at Super Bowls go, I prefer the idea of Tebow's pro-life ad to, say, Jim McMahon dropping his pants, as the former Chicago Bears quarterback once did in response to a question. We're always harping on athletes to be more responsible and engaged in the issues of their day, and less concerned with just cashing checks. It therefore seems more than a little hypocritical to insist on it only if it means criticizing sneaker companies, and to stifle them when they take a stance that might make us uncomfortable.

I'm pro-choice, and Tebow clearly is not. But based on what I've heard in the past week, I'll take his side against the group-think, elitism and condescension of the "National Organization of Fewer and Fewer Women All The Time." For one thing, Tebow seems smarter than they do.

Tebow's 30-second ad hasn't even run yet, but it already has provoked "The National Organization for Women Who Only Think Like Us" to reveal something important about themselves: They aren't actually "pro-choice" so much as they are pro-abortion. Pam Tebow has a genuine pro-choice story to tell. She got pregnant in 1987, post-Roe v. Wade, and while on a Christian mission in the Philippines, she contracted a tropical ailment. Doctors advised her the pregnancy could be dangerous, but she exercised her freedom of choice and now, 20-some years later, the outcome of that choice is her beauteous Heisman Trophy winner son, a chaste, proselytizing evangelical.
And this coming from a liberal pro-abort! She shouldn't be surprised, however, as these same 'womens' groups came out against Sarah Palin in the most vicious way imaginable. They aren't womens groups at all, but rather just another of many appendages of the liberal movement in the guise of something else. More commentary from Sister Toldjah, The Other McCain, Hot Air, Betsy's Page, NewsBusters and Wizbang. For more background on Tim Tebow, this must-see video will do quite well:
Next time a pro-abort claims to be pro-choice, which implies neutrality between life and abortion, just point out the reaction to the Tim Tebow Super Bowl commercial. These people are not pro-choice. They are pro-abortion. Or to having women see ultrasounds of their babies before an abortion. Since I'm on the subject of Super Bowl ads, last year NBC banned a wonderful pro-life commercial that was so powerful they dared not let it see the light of day:
That's how the pro-aborts work. Keep information from the public.

Rep. John Conyers (D-Detroit) hosting $5,000-a-ticket Super Bowl party

So who's going to show up to a Super Bowl party hosted by a confirmed racist who just recently wanted a Haiti relief official demoted for having too many white people on his staff? The same guy who was caught using government payroll employees as indentured servants? To boot, his staff stole 60 turkeys from a charity just before those same turkeys were to be donated to the poor and downtrodden just before Thanksgiving. Conyers has also been under an ethics investigation for trying to get the EPA to move on a deal that his wife Monica got caught in a bribery scandal with (House ethics complaint filed against John Conyers, links to Monica). As is typical with Washingtonians, no scandal is too big to be ignored. I'm guessing he will have a whole bunch of union heads join him. From the Detroit News:
Politics is often considered a sport, so it's not surprising that during sport's biggest showcase -- the Super Bowl -- politics can be found on the sidelines.

Rep. John Conyers , D-Detroit, is hosting a $5,000-a-ticket fundraiser in Miami.

Donors to Conyers' America Forward leadership political action committee will get a ticket to the game plus two tickets to a shindig at a swanky Florida restaurant, according to the Sunlight Foundation's "Party Time" roster of Washington politicians who are holding fundraisers for the Super Bowl. The foundation also reports that for a little less money -- starting at $1,000 -- you can get a ticket to just the luncheon.

A spokesman for Conyers, the head of the House Judiciary Committee, told Political Insider he didn't know how many people would attend.

The rest of Michigan's Congressional delegation is spending game time at home or in D.C.
That couldn't be the end of it though. The Detroit News had to take a swipe at something - anything - conservative. Thus, it ends with this:
In Holland, former NFL player Jay Riemersma , who is one of four Republican congressional candidates running in Michigan's conservative 2nd District, will host a rally Sunday in support of an ad expected to use college football star Tim Tebow and his mother to convey an anti-abortion message.
Nice of the News to stand with the pro-aborts in denouncing the telling of Tebow's mom's story as anti-abortion, rather than the pro-life commercial that it really is. Ah - the smell of bias on a Sunday afternoon...

Your Taxpayer $$$ At Work: DC is spending $2.5 million for Super Bowl commercial to create buzz for the census

One year ago today, I wrote this post in regards to Obama directing his people to circumvent the constitutionally-mandated non-partisan census (OBAMA USURPING THE CONSTITUTION???). It's still under White House control. As such, people don't want to divulge even more personal information to the government. After all, tax returns already list all dependents of a household, and the census is seen by some as just an excuse to dig into people's personal information. To try to create "buzz" about the census, the government is throwing more money down the proverbial toilet by buying a Super Bowl commercial. A total waste of taxpayer money. The government has made similar boneheaded decisions when, for instance, the $20 bill was redesigned. Here was a commercial from 1990, but not for the Super Bowl:
From the AP via The Detroit Free Press: U.S. hopes $2.5M Super Bowl ads boost census.
Faced with record levels of red ink into the foreseeable future, Washington is spending $2.5 million to create buzz for the census — by advertising during the Super Bowl.

The Census Bureau is hoping to exploit the strong ratings from this annual attraction, aiming to get more participation from people who now seem disinclined to mail back a government questionnaire or even answer the door.

Census officials call it a good investment, saying the front-end costs of purchasing the ads can be quickly recouped if they succeed in encouraging people to mail back their census forms.
There's always a fictitious justification for all frivolous spending, natch.
The census officially began last month in rural Alaska, and most of the U.S. will receive their forms by mail the week of March 15. A recent poll found nearly 1 in 5 residents said they may not fill them out, mostly because they were unfamiliar with the census or weren’t interested.

There’s no such lack of interest on the part of the governors, mayors, county commissioners, congressmen and women and state legislators — a host of public figures ranging from city hall to the U.S. Capitol — who hang on every census because the head count determines the size and shape of legislative districts and, equally critical, just how much money the various localities from some $400 billion in federal aid.

Plans for the Super Bowl commercials became public a day after the House voted to increase America’s debt by $1.9 trillion — to $14.3 trillion — or over $40,000 for every man, woman and child the Census Bureau hopes to catch in its count.

In the ads, actor Ed Begley Jr. plays a film director in the ad spots, where he announces with flourish a new project that will create a portrait of “every man, woman and child in this beautiful country of ours ... a snapshot of America.” Looking quizzically, two onlookers whisper, “Isn’t that what the Census is doing?”
That is so apropos! Ed Begley Jr., who owns a bicycle-powered toaster oven and recently had a meltdownover global warming on FoxNews.
It’s an ad buy the Census Bureau believes worked well during the 2000 census, when it ran similar spots during the Super Bowl for the first time. This year’s $2.5-million deal, which the agency says could reach 45% of all U.S. adults, includes two 30-second pregame spots, two or three on-air mentions by sportscaster James Brown and a 30-second ad during the third-quarter.
It's so easy to spend on theoretical exercises when it is our money being spent, not theirs.

It's WAR! Video: Japanese whaling ship collides with ant-whaling vessel for 2nd time in as many months

The war of the Anartctic sea is afoot. Last month, I posted several videos of an ant-waling activist speed boat that was sunk by a Japanese whaling vessel (Video: Conservation Society tries to ram Japanese whaling ship, epic FAIL!). The video appeared to show the activist vessel - the Ady Gil - most at fault in that incident. Now, another incident in the frigid Antartctic waters. From the AP via The Detroit News: Whaler, activist ship collide again off Antarctica. The News didn't post any video, but I found these on YouTube:
From the AP piece:
The anti-whaling ship the Bob Barker and a Japanese harpoon boat collided Saturday in the icy waters off Antarctica -- the second major clash this year in the increasingly aggressive confrontations between conservationists and the whaling fleet.

No one was injured in the latest smash-up, for which each side blamed the other.

The U.S.-based activist group Sea Shepherd, which sends vessels to confront the Japanese fleet each year, said the Japanese ship deliberately rammed the Bob Barker ...
However, Japan's Fisheries Agency said the activist boat caused the collision by suddenly approaching the harpoon vessel No. 3 Yushin Maru to throw bottles containing butyric acid in an attempted attack on the Japanese ship.
Butyric acid is a stinky irritant.
Video shot from the Bob Barker and released by Sea Shepherd shows the two ships side by side moving quickly through the water. The ships come closer together and the Japanese ship then appears to turn away, but its stern swings sharply toward the Bob Barker. The collision is obscured by spray, but a loud clanging noise can be heard before the vessels separate.
Saturday's collision was the second this year between a Sea Shepherd boat and the Japanese fleet.
This is totally like a South Park episode. I mean TOTALLY:

Granholm on pace to commute more prison sentences than her three predecessors combined, including felons convicted of murder

When Granholm was on the campaign trail for her first term, there was one private prison in Michigan. Granholm promised the unions that the private prison would be closed, and she made good on that promise. All the prisons in Michigan are now state-run with a ballooning budget. Yet, instead of cutting union benefits that include generous healthcare benefits that allow some to retire in their 40s and thus suck off the taxpayer teet while no longer serving the taxpayers, and doing so for many more years than they have worked, Granholm has instead put pressure on prisons to release violent criminals early.

The first role of government, the prime directive as it were, is to protect the people. Yet when push comes to shove, Democrats in general, and Granholm in particular, would let criminals on the loose rather than reduce benefits that are unsustainable and are unheard of in the private sector. To try and foist more tax increases on us, Granholm and her liberal Democrat minions will put the public at risk, cutting state troopers, local police and firefighters, education, and anything else that will bring the hurt home to Michigan residents. You would think the press would call Granholm out on her human shield strategy, but you would be wrong. The strategy hasn't had the light shone on it by the local MSM, but they are at least noting that Granholm is letting prisoners out at a reate that even raises their liberal eyebrows. From the Detroit Free Press: Gov. Granholm releases prisoners at record rate. Here's how the piece begins:
Jennifer Granholm has freed 100 prisoners in the last two years -- including 55 last year -- and is on pace to commute more sentences than her three predecessors combined.
In and of itself that speaks volumes already, especially since Engler was in there for 12 years by himself.
In all, she has granted 124 commutations -- all but seven coming after she ran for re-election in 2006.
One of the downsides of term limits is that a lame duck Governor ends up being a loose cannon and has, essentially, very little to lose at this point. I disagree with term limits for representatives of the people entirely, but still believe them to be necessary for executives.
Most of Granholm's early commutations were for medical reasons; none went to killers. But in the last two years, the former federal prosecutor and attorney general has freed dozens convicted of violent crimes -- including at least 38 in prison for murder.

That has prompted some victims' families to wonder about promises made long ago that the people who killed their loved ones would die in prison.

Granholm insisted that each commutation followed intense review and that the freed prisoners pose no threat to the safety of Michigan citizens. Most of the murderers were much older than when they entered state penitentiaries -- one spent nearly 48 years in prison.

"I am very focused," Granholm said Friday, on commuting only those who "pose no danger."

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy disagrees, saying the process has been rushed, and conducted "under the cover of night."
Sounds like they have the same process in Lansing as our US Congress does in passing bills they don't read.
When her office has expressed opposition to commutations, Worthy said, "I don't think they pay a lot of attention to what we say."

No one disputes that the governor's power of clemency is deadly serious. To date, none of Granholm's commutations have committed violent crimes after their release. But two murderers whose sentences were commuted by former Gov. William Milliken in the 1970s killed again -- one murdering three people and critically injuring two in a Detroit church.

Granholm said she was unaware of the case.
Good grief! How could she be that clueless???
Former Gov. James Blanchard said last week that he still thinks about the six prisoners he released in his eight years in office.

"I worry to this day that one of those people I released will do something," he said.
It's not just murderers. She's also letting out rapists, other violent criminals, and child predators. Granholm is a menace to Michigan. Her policies are resulting in more than 1,000,000 lost jobs on her watch, a significant portion compared to Michigan's population being only 10,000,000 many of whom are not of working age. To top that off, she is releasing criminals so that she can call for new tax increases to help protect the population. The same tired human shield strategy she's been using for 7 years now. Yo Granholm - the game is up!

Global Warming puts White House press corps in danger

Global warming has reached the tipping point, and has gotten so bad recently that the White House Press Corps (does Obama pronounce the 'p' in corps here too?) is now in danger. From The Hill via memeorandum:
Photographers in the White House press corps experienced two dangerous moments on Saturday while covering President Barack Obama's speech at the Democratic National Committee's Winter Meeting.

Reporters ventured out to cover the speech amid a massive snowstorm in Washington that could dump up to three feet of snow on the region.

According to the White House pool report, as the motorcade drove back to the White House after the president's speech, a medium-size tree branch snapped under the weight of the snow and fell on top of an SUV carrying photographers.

The windshield of the vehicle was reportedly covered in snow and the driver brought it to a stop. The limb was dragged off the roof and the vehicle returned safely to the White House.

An ambulance skidded and crashed into the same SUV earlier in the day. The crash only caused minor damage and there were no injuries, according to the pool report.
Because nothing says global warming like a massive snow storm. Just like in that movie The Day After Tomorrow, which liberals have taken literally.

Avatar Is Only #21 In Top Grossing Box-Office Films of All Time If You Adjust For Inflation, and in ticket sales

For the record, I haven't seen Avatar yet, and don't really desire ti see a movie that paints a negative picture of our military and goes for the eco-angle all at the same time. It was big news that Avatar beat out Titanic (back-to-back James Cameron flicks) just the other week in gross receipts, but that doesn't account for inflation. Adjusting for inflation, here are the top grossing movies of all time (via Armchair Commentary via Instapundit):
1. Gone With the Wind: $1,537,559,600
2. Star Wars: $1,355,490,100
3. The Sound of Music: $1,083,781,000
4. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial: $1,079,511,500

8. Doctor Zhivago: $944,670,800
9. The Exorcist: $841,427,600
10. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: $829,490,000

19. Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace: $645,524,400
20. Fantasia: $631,960,900
21. Avatar: $603,789,300

24. Mary Poppins: $594,963,600
25. The Lion King: $587,733,900
I don't think this is the best metric, however. I'd like to see rankings of movies by the number of movie tickets sold, since ticket price changes don't necessarily follow inflation. Here are the estimated ticket sales for the top 25 movies via BoxOfficeMojo:

30 Sleeping Beauty Dis. 72,676,100 $51,600,000 1959^
Seems consistent with the former. I suspect they backed out ticket sales from just inflationary numbers. I don't think it would be too hard to track movie ticket price inflation versus overall inflation, but anyway. In the above list, I haven't seen Gone with the Wind (and don't plan on seeing it any time soon either), The Sting, or The Graduate. The Ten Commandments is one of the few oldies that I still watch at least once every year.

Fourth grader punished for 2-inch Lego gun

If you want to know what liberals want to America, look no further than our taxpayer-funded indoctrination centers public schools. The gay agenda jammed down throats, de-emphasis of reading, writing and math in favor of feelings. Intolerance. Hostility towards anything even appearing to be a 2nd amendment right, which brings us to a Lego toy with a tiny Lego gun. From SiLive (Stanton Island, NY) via Guyism: Big brouhaha over tiny toy gun
A 9-year-old New Dorp boy learned there is no wiggle room in the Department of Education's "no toy gun" policy -- even if the toy gun is just two inches long.

Patrick Timoney, a fourth-grader at PS 52, South Beach, was nearly suspended yesterday after playing with LEGOs during his lunch period because one of the action figures was carrying a toy machine gun.
Although it should be noted that there is no way they can conclude it is a toy "machine" gun. Is there any distinguishing characteristic of such in the Lego action figure???
He and his friends had planned a playdate with their respective toys, and were sitting around the cafeteria table when the principal walked in and saw the action figure carrying the fake gun.

While the action figure was a standard LEGO policeman figure, the brand of the gun could not be determined.
The brand of the 2-inch 1-piece plastic Lego gun??? Are they kidding me?
"She took him into her office in the middle of the lunch period and he was crying," said the boy's mother, Laura Timoney. "He was afraid."

The principal called Ms. Timoney and said she considered the toy suspension-worthy, and that she was going to double-check with a security administrator from the city Department of Education.

According to Ms. Timoney, the administrator said the toy should be confiscated and returned to the parents at the end of the day, and that no other action was necessary.

"It's crazy," Ms. Timoney said. "He's missing class time, all for silly toys. The boys are just trying to relax. If there's a real threat, why not call the Police Department?" She pointed out that another child had an action figure that was holding an ax, but that only Patrick was reprimanded.

"When are we going to take responsibility for common sense and logic?" Ms. Timoney said.
There is no common sense nor logic in a totalitarian society. Perhaps just as bizarre as the above episode is the toy-gun specs:
The DOE's discipline code says that all imitation weap- ons are prohibited, but, be-fore considering suspension, it is up to a principal to decide whether a fake gun looks realistic, by evaluating the color, size, shape, appearance and weight.
Good grief. And this comes after a 12-year old was hancuffed and taken away in Queens for... get this... drooling on her desk. (via memeorandum) Does anyone think anything like these 2 incidents would happen in a red school district in a red state? Me neither.

Fact is, this video is going viral for only one reason - Jessica Biel is hot. Like Rule 5 hot:

Mission creep: Pentagon to stock health facilities with morning-after pill

What business does the Pentagon have stocking the morning-after pill? It's more Obama than the Pentagon. There is no form of abortion that our pro-abort community organizer-in-chief does not like. But remember - don't question his faith:
From the Washington Post via memeorandum:
The Department of Defense will begin making the morning-after pill Plan B available at all of its hospitals and health clinics around the world, officials announced Thursday.

The decision came after a recommendation by the Pentagon's Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, an advisory panel that voted in November to include Plan B and the generic Next Choice on the list of drugs all military facilities should stock. The Pentagon accepted the recommendation Feb. 3, a spokeswoman said.

The decision is the latest the Obama administration has made reversing politically sensitive policies involving women's health that were implemented during President George W. Bush's administration.
It's not women's health, it's abortion that kills women too.
Previously, the Obama administration has announced that it was rescinding a federal regulation that would have expanded the ability of health-care workers to refuse to provide medical care they found morally objectionable, including abortion and Plan B; has lifted federal restrictions on human embryonic stem cell research; and has restored funding to international family-planning groups that abort babies.

Women's abortion health advocates had long been pushing the Obama administration to allow the sale of the morning-after pill at military facilities. The same panel made a similar recommendation in 2002, but the policy was never implemented.
It's all about abortion for Obama. There is no life worth saving to him. Here in the States, most of us believe what our founding fathers believed, that all have unalienable rights, the most fundamental of which are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Our Founding Fathers were wise to put those 3 in that sequence since you can't pursue happiness without liberty, and can't have liberty without life. Thus, life is the prime unalienable right of all human being. But Obama does not believe this. Once again, for the umpteenth time, on Obama and abortion, it is indisputable that in his very short time in office, the most viciously pro-abort zealot to ever sit in the Oval Office did the following:

The multiple pro-infanticide votes are the most egregious of the above egregious acts, and he did so without any pity for those babies born alive only to be left in soiled linen closets to die. In 2002, as an Illinois legislator, Obama voted against the Induced Infant Liability Act, which would have protected babies that survived late-term abortions.

Obama voted against this bill in the Illinois senate and killed it in committee. Twice, the Induced Infant Liability Act came up in the Judiciary Committee on which he served. At its first reading he voted “present.” At the second he voted “no.” The bill was then referred to the senate’s Health and Human Services Committee, which Obama chaired after the Illinois Senate went Democratic in 2003. As chairman, he never called the bill up for a vote. That last part was a defacto "no" vote. More than the above is the shocking personal account of nurse Jill Stanek who witnessed surviving babies being left to die in soiled linens:
Jill Stanek, a registered delivery-ward nurse who was the prime mover behind the legislation after she witnessed aborted babies’ being born alive and left to die, testified twice before Obama in support of the Induced Infant Liability Act bills. She also testified before the U.S. Congress in support of the Born Alive Infant Protection Act.

Stanek told me her testimony “did not faze” Obama.

In the second hearing, Stanek said, “I brought pictures in and presented them to the committee of very premature babies from my neonatal resuscitation book from the American Pediatric Association, trying to show them unwanted babies were being cast aside. Babies the same age were being treated if they were wanted!”

And those pictures didn’t faze him [Obama] at all,” she said.
Out of sight, out of mind. Quite a telling reaction for the President with a heart "bigger than any heart in the world." There is neither hope nor change in soiled linen closets.

Andrew McCarthy had a great piece at the NRO last year on Obama, his voting against infants born alive, and the lies he told to cover it up later:
There wasn’t any question about what was happening. The abortions were going wrong. The babies weren’t cooperating. They wouldn’t die as planned. Or, as Illinois state senator Barack Obama so touchingly put it, there was “movement or some indication that, in fact, they’re not just coming out limp and dead.”

No, Senator. They wouldn’t go along with the program. They wouldn’t just come out limp and dead.

They were coming out alive. Born alive. Babies. Vulnerable human beings Obama, in his detached pomposity, might otherwise include among “the least of my brothers.” But of course, an abortion extremist can’t very well be invoking Saint Matthew, can he? So, for Obama, the shunning of these least of our brothers and sisters — millions of them — is somehow not among America’s greatest moral failings.

Most of us, of course, opt for “child,” particularly when the “it” is born and living and breathing and in need of our help. Particularly when the “it” is clinging not to guns or religion but to life.

But not Barack Obama. As an Illinois state senator, he voted to permit infanticide. And now, running for president, he banks on media adulation to insulate him from his past.

The record, however, doesn’t lie.

Stanek encountered another nurse carrying the child to a “soiled utility room” where it would be left to die. It wasn’t that unusual. The induced-labor method was used for late-term abortions. Many of the babies were strong enough to survive the delivery. At least for a time.

So something had to be done with them. They couldn’t be left out in the open, struggling in the presence of fellow human beings. After all, those fellow human beings — health-care providers — would then be forced to confront the inconvenient question of why they were standing idly by. That would hold a mirror up to the whole grisly business.

Better the utility room. Alone, out of sight and out of mind. Next case.

Stanek’s account enraged the public and shamed into silence most of the country’s staunchest pro-abortion activists. Most, not all. Not Barack Obama.

In the Illinois senate, he opposed Born-Alive tooth and nail.

The shocking extremism of that position — giving infanticide the nod over compassion and life — is profoundly embarrassing to him now. So he has lied about what he did. He has offered various conflicting explanations, ranging from the assertion that he didn’t oppose the anti-infanticide legislation (he did), to the assertion that he opposed it because it didn’t contain a superfluous clause reaffirming abortion rights (it did), to the assertion that it was unnecessary because Illinois law already protected the children of botched abortions (it didn’t — and even if it arguably did, why oppose a clarification?).

What Obama hasn’t offered, however, is the rationalization he vigorously posited during the 2002 Illinois senate debate.

When it got down to brass tacks, Barack Obama argued that protecting abortion doctors from legal liability was more important than protecting living infants from death.

Don’t take my word for it. There’s a transcript of a state senate debate, which took place on April 4, 2002. That transcript is available here ... After being recognized, Obama challenged the Born-Alive bill’s sponsor...

As Obama spoke these words, he well knew that children were being born alive but precisely not looked after by the abortion doctors whose water the senator was carrying. As Stanek put it, as many as one in fivetwenty percent — were left to die. That was what prompted the legislation in the first place.

Through Obama’s radical prism, everything “is about abortion and not live births.” But in reality, this had nothing to do with “burden[ing] the original decision of the woman and the physician to induce labor and perform an abortion.” It was about the legal and moral responsibilities of doctors and nurses in circumstances where, despite that decision, a living human being was delivered.

Obama wasn’t worried about “the least of my brothers,” the child. He agitated, instead, over “what liabilities the doctor might have in this situation.” And what kind of doctor? A charlatan who would somehow “continue to think that it’s nonviable” notwithstanding that “there’s, let’s say, movement or some indication that, in fact, they’re not just coming out limp and dead.”

Given the choice between the charlatan and “that fetus, or child — however you want to describe it,” Barack Obama went with the charlatan. The baby would end up limp and dead, whether in the operating room or the utility closet. It was, Obama insisted, about abortion, not live births.
Read the whole thing. It is devastating for Obama. Unfortunately, it is not devastating to Obama. That's the result of  a conscience seared shut.It is the seared conscience of Obama, his speechwriters, staff and the media that they do not see the hypocrisy and irony of their own words and arguments in being for innocent life, while at eth same time being against it.

Video: Best View Yet of Pluto Shows Rapidly Changing Surface

Here's the video of the PLANET Pluto from Wired Science via Instapundit:
Pluto was a planet my whole life until someone wanting to make a name for themselves declassified it as such. Not in my book (actually, i have a lot of old books illustrating Pluto as our last known planet). Be that as it may, what is driving Pluto's surface to change rapidly? It's too small to have a large core temperature, and is too far from the sun and too cold for this to be due to solar heating.
