January US jobs lost: 598,000 jobs
February US jobs lost: 706,000 jobs
March US jobs lost: 742,000 jobs
April US jobs lost: 545,000 jobs
May US jobs lost: 345,000 jobs
June US jobs lost: 467,000 jobs
July US jobs lost: 247,000 jobs
August US jobs lost: 216,000 jobs
September US jobs lost: 263,000 jobs
October US jobs lost: 190,000 jobs
November US jobs lost: 11,000 jobs
December US jobs lost: 85,000 jobs
Total US jobs lost under Obama: 4,415,000 jobs4.42 million fewer jobs to lose. Thus why be surprised that there are less job losses as time goes on anyway? Remember that the stimulus package was supposed to stop the unemployment rate at 8%! A crisis could become a calamity? Remember that? Here's how that looks:
U.S. employers unexpectedly cut 85,000 jobs in December, government data showed on Friday, cooling optimism on the labor market's recovery and keeping pressure on President Barack Obama.Uh - when sector A loses 10 jobs, but sector B gains 9, it's still a bad economy regardless of what sector B did, no? As for the recovery - WHAT RECOVERY??? If they are talking about the GDP being positive in the 3rd quarter, that was due to increased government spending of money that we don't have and are printing and borrowing. It's not real! That "robust" 3.5% GDP growth rate in Q3 that the AP heralded as the end of the recession sans actual jobs? That got reduced. A lot. As in down to 2.8%. Even that is deceiving as consumer spending, which comprises 70% of the economy, declined 0.5% during the same period (Positive GDP Fraud! Consumer Spending DOWN 0.5%. GDP Up Because Of MASSIVE DEBT!). So how is it that the GDP increased in the 3rd quarter after consumer spending decreased? Well, that's got everything to do with the 'G' in the GDP - gross. That includes consumer spending, business spending, and government spending. So if the consumer spending is down, one way to artificially inflate the GDP number is to increase government spending with money that the government doesn't, by the way, have. In essence, the GDP number is positive due to increased debt! It's purchased on a government card that has no credit limit. Yet, the MSM has trumpeted the end of the recession after 4 straight quarters of negative GDP:
...The unemployment rate was unchanged at 10 percent in December.
...Unemployment remains the Achilles heel of the economic recovery that started in the third quarter of 2009 following the worst recession in 70 years. Creating jobs is critical to sustaining the economic recovery when government stimulus fades.
For the whole of 2009, the economy shed 4.2 million jobs, the department said.
Still the job market continued to show broad improvements last month, with a number of sectors showing gains.
And that bump in GDP came at the expense of this:
And there is much more pain to come. This is unsustainable to the nth degree.UPDATE: Linked by Instapundit! Thanks!

Heck of a job, Stimi!!!!
ReplyDeleteOuch.
ReplyDeleteOne thing is that you might want to check for the latest revisions to the jobless numbers. The Labor Dept. revised November from a 11,000 job loss to a 4,000 job gain. I don't know if this is the case for other months as well. Not really going to change the overall picture (changing November would put your total at a clean 4,400,000), but I'm sure you'd want to be as accurate as possible.
Cheers,
Stu
I heard one of the babes on CNN get giddy about how job losses have "slowed" so this is ultimately good news for Obama.
ReplyDeleteIf Bush were president and this were going on, they'd be rightly tearing him to pieces.
Thank you for this - I keep seeing articles citing the eceonomy improving and I keep wondering BASED ON WHAT? All I can fingure is the economy is improving based on the fervent wishes of the media and the administration that we the people turn our attention to something else... Tiger Wooods perhaps...
ReplyDeleteAre you people for real? You know, I have to wonder if you folks are on Al Qaeda's payroll because you sound like terrorists.
ReplyDeleteI put my faith in Obama and the Government not some nut cases who post seditious material on the internet.
As far as I am concerned you people should be put in camps as you are clearly with the terrorists. When you criticize the Government you are helping America's enemies.
Keep putting your faith in Obama and the Government and continue to drink the kool-aid as Obama does more damage to this country than any executive before him. Glug, glug, glug...
ReplyDeleteIn my State, a number of international businesses have recently announced plans for new plants and offices. Something must be going right.
