Surprise! Many California jobs 'saved' by stimulus funds weren't in jeopardy

And this from an extremely liberal publication, so the real number of fake jobs is probably significantly higher. Enron jobs accounting has been going on ever since Obama switched from claims of jobs created, to jobs "created or saved." The latter gives bureaucrats ammunition to pull numbers out their wazoos. Back in mid-October, the government released stimulus job numbers indicating that Michigan created or saved 397 jobs (Disaster: Hard Stimulus Data Reveals That Michigan "Saved Or Created" Only 397 Jobs For 620 Million Stimulus Dollars, FAR Short Of 19,500 Claim). That was just a few days after Granholm said the number was 19,500 (Enron accounting: Stimulus saved or created 19,500 jobs in Michigan). Recall that Obama promised 3.5 million jobs in 2010, but instead the U.S. has lost 2.7 million. So Obama has 6 million jobs to account for. The Obama numbers were adjusted upwards with claims now running at about 600,000 jobs saved or created. But those numbers were found to be largely fraudulent (Hyperinflation is here! AP: Feds overstated stimulus jobs by thousands). The White House has, however, hunkered down on the false numbers (Blue On Blue: Obama Blasts AP For Reporting That Stimulus Jobs Way Overblown). Recently, the claim was that in Michigan, 6 out of 10 mythical jobs were in education (News: Michigan Saved 397 Jobs From Stimulus, But 13,600 Of Those Were In Education Or Something).

But now, even the state-run Obama MSM have had to write that, in fact, the numbers are fraidulent. In Ohio, jobs listed as "saved" were never in danger in the first place (Salary raises, jobs not in danger counted as "created or saved" in stimulus numbers). Even more telling though is that the administration is publicly defending salary raises as "saved jobs." Check out this absurd quote:

“If I give you a raise, it is going to save a portion of your job,” HHS spokesman Luis Rosero said.

Well, more shenanigans got exposed over in California. From The Sacramento Bee via drudge: Many California jobs 'saved' by stimulus funds weren't in jeopardy.

Up to one-fourth of the 110,000 jobs reported as saved by federal stimulus money in California probably never were in danger, a Bee review has found.

California State University officials reported late last week that they saved more jobs with stimulus money than the number of jobs saved in Texas – and in 44 other states.

In a required state report to the federal government, the university system said the $268.5 million it received in stimulus funding through October allowed it to retain 26,156 employees.

That total represents more than half of CSU's statewide work force. However, university officials confirmed Thursday that half their workers were not going to be laid off without the stimulus dollars.

"This is not really a real number of people," CSU spokeswoman Clara Potes-Fellow said. "It's like a budget number."

 "Like a budget number." Which means, by the way, that it is fake. A fraud. A figment of bureaucratic imagination. None of these jobs would have been lost, yet they still go into the mythical "saved" column. These people have done something I thought impossible. They have made Enron accountants look honest.

Planned Parenthood on amendment to forbid taxpayer-funded abortions: "a de facto abortion ban"

A de facto abortion ban? Uh - doesn't current law forbid taxpayer funding of elective abortions? In fact, yes it does. Yet Planned Parenthood has saliva just dripping from its blood-stained fangs at the very notion that Obamacare will be real stimulus for their butcher shops. Taxpayer money would increase annual abortions by more than 400,000. These Planned Parenthood types are true disciples of Molech. From the Hill, which reports the strong possibility that the amendment by Bart Stupak to bar federal dollars from paying for elective abortions, had this snippet in the article that is the focus of this post:

The agreement was quickly condemned by Planned Parenthood Federation of America, which called the amendment by Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) a "de facto abortion ban."

"A vote for Rep. Stupak’s amendment is a vote to weaken women’s access to comprehensive reproductive care and to take away private benefits that women currently have," said Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards.

Planned Parenthood is an evil organization. It encourages women to wait and have an abortion at a certain point in the pregnancy so that they can turn around and sell fetus bodyparts for a profit. It covers up statutory rape of little girls by adult men. It targets minorities in line with their founder's eugenics push to rid the world of black people. You don't have to go too far in any historical research to learn that Planned Parenthood was set up by one Margaret Sanger, a eugenicist, for the express purpose of elimination of what she considered "undesireables." The black community was target #1 for Sanger:

This is an evil organization, and nobody working with or for them will have excuse. These liberals in Congress that enable such barbarity are without excuse.

Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-FL) on taxpayer-funded abortion prohibition: "I forsee a return to the dark ages"

That's right - the dark ages. Medieval times. All because of an amendment that may well be voted on today that would prohibit elective abortions from being taxpayer-financed, which is current law by the way. Yet these rabid pro-aborts want to squeeze blood money as a stimulus for Planned Parenthood and other butcher shops who's bread and butter is in terminating innocent life. From The Hill: Up-or-down vote on an amendment to block abortion funding approved. The article centers on a taxpayer funding of abortion prohibition amendment that may be set for a floor vote. But this is the relevant spinet I want to focus on:

“I forsee a return to the dark ages,” said Alcee Hastings (D-Fla.). “I’m 73, I’ve seen these dark things, they use these coat hangers and die.”

Unless Hastings is a 500-year old immortal from the Highlander series, he has no clue what the dark ages were all about. If Hastings, who was formerly a federal judge that was impeached and removed from his post for corruption and perjury, wants to see the dark ages, he should be made to wade in a gigantic pool containing the 50 million victims of abortion since Roe v Wade. Just piles of bodies and body parts everywhere. There would be the dark ages for you! Ironically, Hastings would find that pile to be disproportionately black. Very disproportionately black. After all, Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the states, was created to eradicate the black population. How about them apples Hastings?

Obama administration concerned about Granholm's Lt. Gov as candidate

Anyone surprised that Obama is sticking his claws into state business? This president is power-hungry, and needs blue states to continue to kowtow to special interests that were responsible for his election last year. The MSM is already on board and don't get voted out. Politicians, however, do. And the Democrats here in Michigan have run the state into the ground doing pretty much what Obama is doing at teh national scale. From Tim Skubick in The Macomb Daily: Obama administration concerned about Cherry succeeding Granholm.

They pretty much bungled it in New York but did better in New Jersey. [Huh??? - ed] So who knows how well they will do regarding the democratic race for governor in Michigan?

Sources confirm the Obama White House is already watching from the sidelines.

Recall that the Obama team tried to find a new candidate for governor in New York. It was handled with all the grace of a 350-pound ballerina doing "Swan Lake."

In New Jersey, with a little more finesse, the pollster for incumbent democratic Gov. Jon Corzine was quietly dumped. That pollster was Mark Mellman, who coincidentally did polling for one Jennifer Granholm and one Lieutenant Gov. John Cherry. Mellman was shoved aside, according to Politico.com, and replaced with Joel Benenson.

Joel who?

Benenson just happens to be the pollster for the Obama presidential campaign.

Of course the White House has denied that it is sticking its nose into various governor's races where the Democrat could lose — as if they would confirm that.

Anyhow, in Michigan insiders are buzzing about White House "concerns" about Michigan and Cherry, heir apparent to Gov. Jennifer Granholm.

Some Democrats are worried Cherry can't win, and since the Obama folks want a Democratic governor in place for legislative redistricting in 2011 and an Obama re-election bid after that, they are watching very carefully and have been since last January.

This has already been shared with the Cherry team: The president is monitoring Michigan and somebody named Dillon has huddled with White House advisers who work for David Axlerod, who is sort of close to you-know-who.

The president knows who House Speaker Andy Dillon is. During a presidential sojourn to Macomb County that Dillon attended, the president walked up and said, "Hi, Andy."

The concerns about the 2010 contest extend beyond the White House. It was also the subject of a high level confab involving State Democratic Party Chairman Mark Brewer and other Michigan Democrats. They huddled with the new Democratic Party chairman.

He asked what he could do for them?

Find a job for Jennifer Granholm was the request so that Cherry could run as the incumbent, which would not help Dillon.

Cherry is handicapped by his incumbent boss, the theory goes, and after the GOP gets done wrapping Cherry up in the Granholm legacy, you can see why the Democrats might be concerned...

Cherry is going to be the gift that keeps on giving here in Michigan. He is Granholm, complete with all the ineptitude and ineffectiveness of the current governor, minus the good looks and perceived charisma. The GOP doesn't need to wrap him in Granholm's legacy - he's doing that all by himself. What was that he said earlier this year?

I think she's got a strong record.

And that's not a mistake. He will be running on Granholm's record and has said so repeatedly - a record that will have cost Michigan, with just 10 million residents, more than 1,000,000 jobs by the time Granholm leaves office - by her own admission.

PELOSI: Buy a $15,000 Policy or Go to Jail. Where is THIS in the US Constitution?

For up to 5 years at that! Can anyone point me where in the Constitution the federal government has the power to force every American to buy a product of any kind and put people in jail for not doing so? For the record, here's Article 1, Section 8 of said U.S. Constitution:

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

Now if that's all there was, that would be one thing, but it doesn't stop there. Section 8 goes on to enumerate explicitly and exactly what all that means. Especially "general welfare:"

To borrow money on the credit of the United States;

To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;

To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;

To coin Money, regulate the Value thereof, and of foreign Coin, and fix the Standard of Weights and Measures;

To provide for the Punishment of counterfeiting the Securities and current Coin of the United States;

To establish Post Offices and Post Roads;

To promote the Progress of Science and useful Arts, by securing for limited Times to Authors and Inventors the exclusive Right to their respective Writings and Discoveries;

To constitute Tribunals inferior to the supreme Court;

To define and punish Piracies and Felonies committed on the high Seas, and Offenses against the Law of Nations;

To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;

To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years;

To provide and maintain a Navy;

To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;

To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress;

To exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States, and to exercise like Authority over all Places purchased by the Consent of the Legislature of the State in which the Same shall be, for the Erection of Forts, Magazines, Arsenals, dock-Yards, and other needful Buildings; And
To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.

Those are the powers delegated to the federal government. The 10th amendment to the Constitution adds this:

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Now onto this release from Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee Dave Camp (R-MI):

Today, Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee Dave Camp (R-MI) released a letter from the non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) confirming that the failure to comply with the individual mandate to buy health insurance contained in the Pelosi health care bill (H.R. 3962, as amended) could land people in jail. The JCT letter makes clear that Americans who do not maintain “acceptable health insurance coverage” and who choose not to pay the bill’s new individual mandate tax (generally 2.5% of income), are subject to numerous civil and criminal penalties, including criminal fines of up to $250,000 and imprisonment of up to five years.

In response to the JCT letter, Camp said: “This is the ultimate example of the Democrats’ command-and-control style of governing – buy what we tell you or go to jail. It is outrageous and it should be stopped immediately.”

Key excerpts from the JCT letter appear below:

“H.R. 3962 provides that an individual (or a husband and wife in the case of a joint return) who does not, at any time during the taxable year, maintain acceptable health insurance coverage for himself or herself and each of his or her qualifying children is subject to an additional tax.” [page 1]

“If the government determines that the taxpayer’s unpaid tax liability results from willful behavior, the following penalties could apply…” [page 2]

“Criminal penalties

Prosecution is authorized under the Code for a variety of offenses. Depending on the level of the noncompliance, the following penalties could apply to an individual:

• Section 7203 – misdemeanor willful failure to pay is punishable by a fine of up to $25,000 and/or imprisonment of up to one year.

• Section 7201 – felony willful evasion is punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment of up to five years.” [page 3]

When confronted with this same issue during its consideration of a similar individual mandate tax, the Senate Finance Committee worked on a bipartisan basis to include language in its bill that shielded Americans from civil and criminal penalties. The Pelosi bill, however, contains no similar language protecting American citizens from civil and criminal tax penalties that could include a $250,000 fine and five years in jail.

“The Senate Finance Committee had the good sense to eliminate the extreme penalty of incarceration. Speaker Pelosi’s decision to leave in the jail time provision is a threat to every family who cannot afford the $15,000 premium her plan creates. Fortunately, Republicans have an alternative that will lower health insurance costs without raising taxes or cutting Medicare,” said Camp.

According to the Congressional Budget Office the lowest cost family non-group plan under the Speaker’s bill would cost $15,000 in 2016.

This bill isn't about healthcare. It's about control. This isn't just a power grab, it is a grab at our liberty and freedom guaranteed in the U.S. Constitution.

AP reports Red Wings SCORE in dragging death article!

Rush Limbaugh doesn't call  the MSM the drive-by media for nothing. An MSU student was killed after being dragged a quarter mile by people with a calloused conscience who sped off after a Red Wings game. So I see this article by the AP in the Oakland Press that, incredibly, ends with the report of how the Red Wings did. Good grief, has the MSM no shame? In the Oakland Press: MSU student killed in hit-and-run after Red Wings game.

Police investigating the hit-and-run death of a college student following a Detroit Red Wings hockey game plan to view surveillance video from downtown hotels and shops.

The Detroit Free Press reports Friday that the 19-year-old Michigan State University student was leaving the game at Joe Louis Arena with friends late Thursday night when he was hit near Cobo Center.

Police say the student was dragged several blocks north to Michigan and Washington Boulevard when the car sped away. A homeless man told police the car may have been a white Cadillac.

The driver may not have known the student was beneath the vehicle.

Police say a large number of Michigan State students attended the game. Detroit defeated the San Jose Sharks 2-1.

You have got to be kidding me! It's bad enough that the subject of the article is the lack of a conscience in Detroit, but the media is compounding it with its insensitivity. Whoever wrote the piece needs to be fired. As for the incident itself, should this shock anyone? We are becoming desensitized to absurdities such as this. I wrote a post a while ago (The decline of moral values) about such situations in Detroit. A man shot for urinating on someone's building. The human popsicle. This is just another in a line of incidents that points to the moral decline in our society. I wrote this in that prior post:

Is this surprising in this day and age? I don't think it should be. This nation has been in decline ever since it turned its back on God. We the People are endowed with inalienable rights by our Creator. Not by the state. That has changed. Schools banned the Bible, kids are being indoctrinated to think they are all just accidents of chance, the agenda of every deviancy known is being rammed through the curriculum. Our senior citizens and disabled are being put to death (Terry Shiavo anyone?), their lives devalued to the shirt on their back. Abortion on demand has been foisted on this country through judicial fiat. You think the above photograph is disturbing? Search Google, if you dare, and look at the remains of an aborted baby. Evil is called good, and good evil. Evil is upon us, and most are hardly aware of it. It is a natural progression of decay of our society dictated by the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics; all natural processes progress in a direction that increases the disorder of the universe.

We are subject to the law of decay. Without prudent decisions, the slide of society will continue. One positive silver lining here is that I am not the only one to notice either the callousness of the death, or that of the MSM. A. Isaac over at guyism had this to add:

Let me repeat that for you….1/4 mile. The distance around a track. More than a thousand feet. As a native Detroiter that knows the area, I can’t believe that nobody saw anything (including this person’s friends). Considering this happened after a Red Wings game, there must have been at the very least, several hundred people within a small radius.

Whether the driver of the car was drunk or just simply didn’t care, I truly find this to be appalling.

Detroit News Political Blogger: Don't Judge Fort Hood Shooter So Quickly! But Called Tiller Shooter "Terrorist" Day After That Murder.

Probably the most liberal crank blogger over at The Detroit News is Libby Spencer. Although you may find this simply unbelievable, she is likely to the left of Keith Olbermann. There is simply no news that's is not fit for her to poropagandize for the left via the virtual microphone that the Detroit News gave her. This acid casualty from the 60's has such thick coke-bottle liberal filter goggles that she apparently can't even see her own hypocrisy in issues of life and death. For instance, the day after the horrific news of the Muslim jahadi that murdered 13 at Fort Hood with dozens more wounded, Spencer came out with a "keep calm, don;t jump to conclusions" post, but did anything but the day after George "baby killer" Tiller was shot. Compare these posts:

Spencer the day after the Fort Hood shooting: "After the initial scramble for details and much needless speculation, the story of the Ft. Hood shooter is becoming a bit more clear. However, it's far from complete. No one knows yet why this man went off the rails. That will be revealed in the months to come when he goes to trial. So people should be careful before they jump to conclusions about his motives."

Spencer the day after the Tiller shooting: "If you remember the firestorm over the DHS advisory report on far right, domestic terrorists, this is exactly what they were talking about. The suspect in the murder of Dr. George Tiller, Scott P. Roeder, was a member of an anti-government group in the 1990s and a staunch opponent of abortion. He has posted disturbing comments on various anti-choice forums and was apparently a supporter of a group that not too subtly advocates the murder of abortion doctors."

Hypocrisy - thy name is Libby Spencer! She jumped to a whole bunch of conclusions right after the Tiller murder way, way before any trial. And she ignores that the jihadi terrorist that gunned down our soldiers posted disturbing comments on various forums and supported suicide bombers. What does Spencer think of this post via Doug Ross:

Bet hey - don't jump to conclusions just because 13 soldiers were shot dead by a radical Muslim jihadi. But do jump to conclusions when a baby murderer gets shot. It's almost as if Spencer herself has a mat on her floor where she can literally just jump to conclusions:

If the Detroit News had any credibility left of being fair and balanced (they don't), they'd offload Spencer and her rank hypocrisy forcing her to sell her snake oil on the free market in the blogosphere. Of course, nobody would read such an independent blog, so this is in essence a liberal affirmative action position over at the liberal News.

MI Research To Study Smoke Caused By Non-Existent Global Warming

You would think those in Michigan would have noticed that it has been unusually cold here of late. And by late I'm talking about the last few years. Yes, there is a big difference between local weather and global climate. But Michigan is not alone in seeing record low temperatures. The cold weather is on average a global phenomenon, not just a local one, as actual observable data attests to:

Yup - we're on a cooling trend. And temperatures now are not even close to what they peaked at in 1998. This has been an unusually cold summer in many states, including Michigan. Even July here in Michigan, usually one of the warmest months of the year,  has been a record-setter. Not for high temperatures as global warming alarmists have been saying for years, but for record cold. (I blame global warming! Parts of Michigan saw coldest July EVER!) In fact, there have been days this July where local temperatures in some areas not only broke the coldest day record, they shattered them. Some by as much as 7F! (Parts of Michigan Shatter Record For Coldest July 18 - Ever!) This July was the 2nd coolest on record in Michigan, with the record setter being all the way back in 1891 if you trust the quality of data gathering back in that day. But some areas of Michigan did set the record, and by a lot to boot! Recently, Michigan said goodbye to what the media has termed "the summer that wasn't" (Michigan says good-bye to the summer that wasn't).

Agriculture has been hit quite hard here. Just recently, the northern Michigan cherry festival was held sans northern Michigan cherries! (I blame Global Warming! Northern Michigan Cherry festival to be without Northern Michigan cherries. Not ripe yet because of cold!) Cherries from warmer regions had to be imported up north! And that's not the only crop. The strawberry crop had been delayed (I blame global warming! Cool weather delays Michigan strawberry season). So have corn and tomatoes (I blame global warming! Michigan sweet corn, tomato crop delayed because of cold). Some crops have been so damaged that some counties applied to be listed as disaster areas (I blame global warming! MI requests federal disaster help for 27 counties after COLD weather ruins crops).

Despite all of the observable data, money is coming to Michigan to study how smoke from wildfires caused by non-existent global warming is going to harm people.From The Detroit News: Study asks: Will warmer world bring harmful smoke?

As global warming makes wildfires more likely, scientists are trying to learn how bad the smoke is for the health of people who live downwind.

Researchers at Michigan Technological University's research center in Ann Arbor are heading the study. A $452,000 federal stimulus grant from the National Institutes of Health funds the first year.

Being a scientist myself, I sure have nothing against research on how volatile organic compounds from fires get distributed in our atmosphere. But to put the whole study under an "effects of global warming" umbrella doesn't put a good light on the study. Then again, would these researchers have gotten any stimulus money had they simply proposed exactly the same study sans global warming alarmism? Exit question: will this grant "save or create" 5 jobs since 5 scientists are listed as PIs, no matter that their jobs already exist?

More Democrats watch Fox News than CNN and MSNBC combined

That is saying a LOT as CNN and especially MSNBC cater directly to liberals. On election night, FoxNews absolutely destroyed the competition. From Powerline via Instapundit:

More people watched Fox News than all of its cable news competitors combined, and CNN came in a dismal fourth. CNN's ratings have been in a tailspin. Shockingly, CNN finished October out of the list of the top 30 cable channels. Fox News, meanwhile, was the third highest-rated cable channel in prime time, after USA and ESPN.

...lots of Democrats watch Fox too--in fact, around 30 percent of Fox's audience are Democrats. A couple of nights ago we were watching Bill O'Reilly's show, and he pointed out that more Democrats watch Fox News than CNN and MSNBC combined, even though those networks cater almost exclusively to the left--one more reason why the Obama administration's attacks on Fox are painfully stupid.

So why is it that Democrats watch FoxNews that many liberals attack with much venom? The answer to that question should be obvious: FoxNews actually reports the news. CNN and MSNBC simply do not report things if they make liberals lkook bad. Thus, Democrats watch FoxNews for the simple reason that they want to know what is going on too, rather than watching CNN, for instance, fact-checking Saturday Night Live skits while the economy continues to burn:

Study: Newborns cry with accent learned in womb

I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child — a direct killing of the innocent child — murder by the mother herself. Think newborns just eat, sleep and wail the same way across the world? That's not so, according to a new study which found that babies cry with an accent within the first week of life.

By recording cries of 60 babies born to French or German parents, researchers discovered that babies cry with the same "prosody" or melody used in their native language by the 2nd day of life.

French newborns in the study ended their cries with a lilt at the end typically heard in French.

German babies, however, started their cries intensely and dropped off at the end - much like the emphasis their German parents put in a sentence, according to a study published Thursday in Current Biology.
Experts in child development say the most exciting part of this discovery is not that infants recognize the melody of their language, but that the newborns may have the ability to use what they heard in the womb to then control their cries.

Note that the ABC report trots out the lie that the babies have this ability the "2nd day of life." It's not the 2nd day of life, but rather the 2nd day after birth. Just par for the course for pro-abort ABC to use pro-abort lingo in an article that is diametrically opposed to that viewpoint.

Granholm raises state budget by $6+ Billion in 6 year, liberal writers claim $9 billion cut!

This is so frustrating. No matter the reality, some liberals continue to trot out the same lie, almost as if to make it true if repeated enough. The big lie that liberal crank Tim Skubick likes to repeat ad infinitum is that Granholm is a budget cutter. Not just a run-of the mill kind of budget cutter. But the Goliath of all budget cutters. How Skubick does this week in and week out is beyond me, but he continues to do it nonetheless. For the record, for the umpteenth time, here are the budget numbers for each year of the Granholm-Cherry administration, including the new one that is being trumpeted as having too many cuts:

If Skubick can point out a single year where an actual cut was made, then I'm all ears. Now I don't doubt that some departments saw cuts, and this year Granholm cut education to try to use schoolchildren to push for more taxes, but when others see more increases than those cuts, is there in reality a net cut? For instance, could a dad claim that he had cut the family budget if decreased the entertainment budget by $30 per week but increased the food budget by $40? No matter how he justified this, at the end of the month there would be an extra $10 to be paid out. Thus, no real cuts to the bottom. Get it? In the Oakland Press, Skubick says this sans  facts: Apathy Winning So Far. The premise of the blog post appears to be that MI residents aren't noticing the cuts Granholm has made in the 2 terms, and should now rise up to demand to pay more taxes! I kid you not! I ask you again to look at the actual budget numbers above and take note of them as you read these snippets:

This governor likes to say on the stump that she has cut more state services than any other governor dead or alive. And what has the public said? Nothing.

With over $8 billion in reductions to date and now another $1.8 billion on top of that, the governor has sliced every which way to balance the budget. No one knows how many programs have been reduced or just wiped off the books and there's been no outcry from the unwashed.

Sure some of the citizens have felt the cuts but they are small in numbers and if they complained, the gripes never made it into the MSM; never raised concerns in the legislature beyond a, "sorry we had to do it' response.

But now the governor figures, hopes and prays that massive cuts to the K-12 budget will change the story line. Take $292 away from every school kid and you might have something. Add to that the veto of $52 million to schools who spend more on students than the rest and you have cuts approaching $600 per pupil. Plus next year, her story goes, if nothing is done now, the cuts will go beyond that.

...But apathy is alive and well in the hinterland as we moan about the summer that never was and the winter that will surely be. Can this governor with the above average communicative charm and talent wake the masses to get in the game and demand that lawmakers raise more money for schools?

What kind of a doofus opines that residents in a state with a 15.2% unemployment rate, the worst in the nation for 43 straight months, grab their pitchforks and go to Lansing to the steps of the capitol to demand - MORE TAXES??? My goodness, man! Get a grip on reality! If I send the above budget numbers to Skoobs, what do you think the chances he sees them?

Granholm Terminates 96,000 MI Promise College Grants, Instead Funds Unnecessary Building Constructed By Political Cronies

How the heck does this pass the smell test with anyone? $112 million pulled from the Michigan Promise College Scholarships that would have funded 96,000 grants. Instead, the money is used to buy a building constructed by her political cronies for the state police who admit it is not necessary. How is the press not on top of this? Instead, this story appears on the PRNewswire:

Before technicalities are completed, Gov. Jennifer Granholm (D-Michigan) still has a chance to reclaim some of her lost trust with statewide grassroot taxpayers by honoring her commitment to 96,000 students enrolled in Michigan's 15 taxpayer-funded universities with $112 million in Michigan Promise College Scholarship Grants.

She's in the process of cheating college students in order to gratefully pay Joel Ferguson (D) and Gary Granger (R) $113 million with borrowed debt money from taxpayers to buy their almost completed building on a Downtown Lansing floodplane for an unnecessary new State Police Headquarters.

Gov. Granholm has turned hostile to education and is arrogantly proceeding with plans to reward two of the biggest political campaign contributors active in the State Capitol with her $113 million appropriation to buy the Ferguson-Granger building with funds previously committed to Promise Grant College Scholarships. Gov. Granholm has confused priorities required for the honest distribution of State budget appropriations to best serve the public interest.

We grassroot taxpayers in Taxpayers United believe Gov. Granholm has the power and duty to cite several legal problems as excuses that enable her to reverse herself and take out $113 million from the record high $44.5 billion fiscal year 2010 State spending budget she just approved October 30, 2009. She can put $112 million back to immediately fund Michigan Promise College Scholarship Grants. She promised 1/4 of 1% of the current fiscal year's State budget would be spent on Promise College Scholarship Grants.

State legislators know vigilant grassroots citizens from Taxpayers United Michigan Foundation were in the Senate and House galleries in our State Capitol on September 30 and October 1 when funding for the education program and the Ferguson-Granger State Police project for their own personal unjust enrichment were secretly switched.

Granholm's breach of good faith by an elected public official is unprecedented in Michigan. Her gratitude-motivated priority choice to fund the fatally flawed project of two major political party contributors by breaking her promise to let taxpayers further help educate 96,000 enrolled students is scandalous and must be reversed.

We in Taxpayers United have great concern for the ethics, integrity and motives of Gov. Granholm when she first urges the governing boards of Michigan's 15 state universities to hit enrolled underclassmen this semester with 7% average increases in tuition, fees, room and board, and then imposes anxiety plagues on campus' statewide by vetoing the entire $112 million State appropriation of $1,000 to $4,000 she previously guaranteed each student in Promise College Scholarship Grants payable last month.

For seven years, two of the biggest political campaign contributors buying influence in our State Capitol have been trying to rip off grassroots taxpayers with a new five-story State Police Headquarters Building. On speculation, they've proceeded to build on a federal floodplane at the intersection of two heavily traveled roads in Downtown Lansing.

Ferguson and Granger are relying on a no-bid contract they conditionally obtained under a previous legislature from Bob Emerson, Gov. Granholm's appointed Director of the Michigan Department of Management and Budget, which did NOT obligate current legislators and Gov. Granholm to buy their almost complete but never occupied office building.

Ferguson and Granger's political influence as major campaign contributors paid off during the night of September 30 when 27 of 38 State Senators, and 64 of 110 State Representatives, approved spending for the corrupt deal Gov. Jennifer Granholm promised to legitimize by immediately signing into law.

The Oct. 1 final bill approved in closed legislative caucuses, along with Gov. Granholm's arm twisting, turned out in print two days later to be even more of a sweetheart deal for Ferguson and Granger than their two-year-old deal.

Granholm did sign the Substitute for Senate Bill 253, the $524 million Department of State Police budget, which contains separate component parts of the $113 million Ferguson-Granger deal, for the fiscal year normally ending September 30, 2009, but which was extended this year one month to Oct. 31, 2009, through Sept. 30, 2010.

That state government spending for Michigan State Police alone amounts to more than the half billion dollar value of all the gold found in King Tut's Tomb.

Corruption is evident in Gov. Jennifer Granholm's plan to illegally divert $113 million in State funds to aid and abet windfall profits for political campaign contributor activists Joel Ferguson and Gary Granger who want their new office building to replace the still serviceable $1-a-year State Police Headquarters building in use on the MSU Campus in East Lansing. State taxpayers have maintained and upgraded that building and surrounding facilities and acreage annually ever since State Police Troopers officially became part of State government in 1937.

Today's news has no silver lining. 190,000 more jobs have been lost in October.  No way the AP could possibly sugarcoat it this time. Could they? Here is what has been happening with Biden's 3-letter word this year:

The unemployment rate has surpassed 10 percent for the first time since 1983 -- and is likely to go higher.

Nearly 16 million people can't find jobs even though the worst recession since the Great Depression has apparently ended. The Labor Department said Friday that the economy shed a net total of 190,000 jobs in October...

Counting those who have settled for part-time jobs or stopped looking for work, the unemployment rate would be 17.5 percent, the highest on records dating from 1994.

You know what's missing from the AP article? The actual unemployment rate. THE ACTUAL UNEMPLOYMENT RATE!!! Can you believe it? They actually didn't write what it was! Good grief. The unemployment rate is now 10.2%.

Suspect in Fort Hood Murder said 'Allahu Akbar!' before shooting

The horrific stories of what transpired at Fort Hood yesterday that led to the murder of 13 soldiers and dozens wounded are plentiful, but incomplete. The media, as you might suspect, is whitewashing as best it can that the perpetrators were radical Muslims hell bent on murder that days. For instance, the Detroit News picked up this AP piece yesterday. See what's missing here: Fort Hood shootings leave 12 dead

A military mental health doctor facing deployment overseas opened fire at the Fort Hood Army post on Thursday, setting off on a rampage that killed 12 people and left 30 wounded. The violence was believed to be the worst mass shooting in history at a U.S. military base.

The shooting began around 1:30 p.m. local time, when shots were fired at the base's Soldier Readiness Center, where soldiers who are about to be deployed or who are returning undergo medical screening, said Lt. Gen. Bob Cone at Fort Hood. The suspected shooter was still alive and under arrest.

"It's a terrible tragedy. It's stunning," Cone said.

What's missing? How about a name for the perp? That doesn't come until the 6th paragraph in the article: Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan. The article also mentions that his religion was unknown. Really. As it turns out, Hasan was a convert to Islam, and his murder spree was Jihad. He supported suicide bombers on the internet. CAIR, of course, said this (via Instapundit): don’t blame Muslims. Typical from the enablers. Insty has a good roundup of information. So does Ed Driscoll and Gateway Pundit. Obama made a statement, but spent a big chunk of time in the beginning of the press conference giving verbal fist-bumps. It was extremely awkward, and shows where his priorities are. But now, bombshell news from the AP:Army: Suspect said 'Allahu Akbar!' before shooting.

The base commander at Fort Hood says soldiers who witnessed a shooting rampage that left 13 people dead reported that the gunman shouted "Allahu Akbar!" before opening fire at the Texas post.

Lt. Gen. Robert Cone told NBC's "Today" show on Friday that suspected shooter, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, made the comment, which is Arabic for "God is great!" before the rampage Thursday that also left 30 people wounded.

Anyone CAIR to make a comment on that one???

Abortion Is The New Racism: Kills More Black Americans Than the Seven Leading Causes of Death - COMBINED

Planned Parenthood is an evil organization. Plain evil. What else do you call an organization that encourages women to wait and have an abortion at a certain point in the pregnancy so that they can turn around and sell fetus bodyparts for a profit? That covers up statutory rape of little girls by adult men? That targets minorities in line with their founder Margaret Sanger's eugenics push to rid the world of black people? Here in Michigan, Planned Parenthood has strategically located their butcher shops in Detroit, Warren, Jackson, Lansing, East Lansing, Livonia, Ypsilanti, and are now eyeballing Pontiac. All of these locations are close to large minority populations. Funny that you never see their "health care" facilities in affluent suburbs. It's almost like they're targeting undesirables in their view or something. You don't have to go too far in any historical research to learn that Planned Parenthood was set up by Margaret Sanger, (or am I thinking Ruth Bader Ginsburg?) a eugenicist and disciple of the false god Molech, for the express purpose of elimination of what she considered "undesireables." The black community was target numero uno for Sanger:

This is an evil organization, and nobody working with or for them will have excuse. Quite ironically, it is the black community that supports liberal politicians by overwhelming margins that install judicial activists on the courts and throw taxpayer money at orgs like Planned Parenthood that in turn go into minority neighborhoods to butcher as many as possible. Such is supported as the most fundamental right by those activist judges against the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence that for one lists "life" as the greatest of unalienable rights. Just remember the fact that abortion is far and away the #1 killer of blacks in the U.S. (more than all diseases - combined):

Abortion kills more black Americans than the seven leading causes of death combined, according to data collected by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for 2005, the latest year for which the abortion numbers are available.

Abortion killed at least 203,991 blacks in the 36 states and two cities (New York City and the District of Columbia) that reported abortions by race in 2005, according to the CDC. During that same year, according to the CDC, a total of 198,385 blacks nationwide died from heart disease, cancer, strokes, accidents, diabetes, homicide, and chronic lower respiratory diseases combined. These were the seven leading causes of death for black Americans that year.

A total of 49 jurisdictions reported their abortion numbers for 2005 to the CDC. These included all 50 states--except California, Louisiana, and New Hampshire--and New York City and the District of Columbia. Of these 49 jurisdiction, only 36 states plus New York City and the District of Columbia reported the number of abortions by race.

...According to the CDC, the total of 203,991 blacks killed by abortion in 2005 also does not include those aborted by "private physicians’ procedures.”

In 2005, a total of 820,151 legal abortions were performed in the 49 jurisdication that reported abortions to the CDC, according to the “Abortion Surveillance” report, which is published in the CDC's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, or MMWR, for Nov. 28, 2008. (Scroll up to top of report)

The report states, “Approximately 1 in 5 U.S. pregnancies have ended in abortion,” and also notes some limitations on the data: “The overall number, ratio, and rate of abortions are conservative estimates; the total numbers of legal induced abortions provided by central health agencies and reported to the CDC for 2005 were probably lower than the numbers actually performed.”

...Rev. Clenard H. Childress, Jr., founder of BlackGenocide.org, told CNSNews.com that according to numbers gleaned from statistics provided by the Guttmacher Institute, a pro-abortion group, 1,784 blacks are aborted each day. Also, he notes on his Web site that three out of five African-American women will obtain an abortion.

Childress said the information and sources on his Web site have never been challenged by abortion-access supporters. “This is because they can see that themselves, and they know them probably to be far worse than we’re reporting. The facts come from the pro-abort/pro-choice community,” he said.

And it will get even worse if Obamacare were to pass into law. Planned Parenthood would then have the absolute authority to set up clinics in every public school in the country.

I feel bad many times for having thoughts of these people squirming before God on judgment day, but at the same time, I wonder what WOULD they say? What CAN they say when they give an account as we all will? I was trying to help the economy? Health care? Pro-choice? Principle? How ridiculous would that sound should the audience consist of the 50 million souls aborted in the U.S. since RvW? How about this Democrat mantra: "I wanted to help the little guy, the downtrodden, the most helpless amongst us, ...." And then it sets in, the horrible realization that the most helpless amongst us (who is smaller than these little guys anyway?) have been slaughtered - butchered in the most barbaric and horrific ways imaginable, and with their full blessing. Torn head from shoulder, limb from torso, legs from hips, exposed to saline fluid that burned skin and muscle, to be scraped out like a rash and flushed down a toilet like fecal matter or put into a dumpster with the garbage. And the false god Molech smiles.

How do people that work for these facilities, whether independent of as part of the Planned Parenthood butcher shops, and sleep well at night? Do they have the approval of their conscience? If so, I fear for their spirit. Why are people surprised at the callousness that is shown to evil and death in this country when acts like this have been condoned, encouraged and protected by our elected leaders and highest courts? Why is it surprising that Planned Parenthood not only performs abortions, but lies and breaks the law to do so, going so far as to cover up statutory rape of 12- and 13-year old girls so that they can be repeat customers?

Slavery was  great stain on this country. Far worse than slavery is abortion. Ironically, the two are not independent of one another as statistics clearly show that abortion is the new racism.
