Single-Payer Hell: Prisoners Eat Better Than NHS Patients

Did I mention there is no shortage of nightmare stories coming out of the U.K.s single-payer universal lack-of-health care monstrosity of a system known as the National Health Service (service is too strong of a word and should be changed for 'truth in advertising'). Just see what British pol Daniel Hannan had to say about the system:

This story comes from the BBC news, which is in itself very revealing as the BBC is literally state-run media! Tax dollars bankroll the BBC to spew leftist propaganda daily without end. Even such a biased entity cannot ignore the absurdity that is NHS: Prison food 'beats NHS hospitals.'

Researchers have claimed the food provided in prisons is better than in NHS hospitals.

Experts from Bournemouth University examined the quality of food offered to prisoners and NHS patients.

They say people in hospital are losing out on nutrition because they are not being helped with eating or having their diet monitored.

Why would this be happening? A revealing quote from the article:

"Hospital cutbacks are also seen in areas like catering budgets, rather that elsewhere," Dr Harwell said.

That's right, the usual - quality sacrificed for money. Patient needs be damned. This is what happens when you have a healthcare system with more administrators than doctors. When budgets need to be cut, it won't be in the administration. After all, how will they live if they have to take a pay cut? There's "free" healthcare for you! Van Helsing over at moonbattery adds:

Trays are often taken away empty because food tastes so awful patients won't eat it, or because the trays have been placed out of their reach. The NHS chucks out 11 million uneaten trays every year. No matter; taxpayers have plenty of money.

In 2007, 242 patients died of malnutrition in British hospitals.

Why not put a fence around the island and declare the whole place to be a prison? It worked out fine for Cuba — according to our rulers.
